I know a lot of people talk smack about the S, but man, I love mine, I'm not one to pixel count, so as long as the game I'm playing is 1080p, I'm fine, looks great on my LG CX, especially when the games are still kicking at 60fps or better.

Also travels well, I'm able to throw it in my bag next to my laptop when I travel and it's great for hotel downtime.
I have no problem with the S's performance. If that were the only difference, I'd already own one. My problem is the measly storage. 512GB, only 364GB left after OS. When a lot of AAA games run over 100GB, that's gonna fill up real quick. You can remedy this by getting a storage expansion card, but that brings the total cost to more than the Series X.

If you're a very casual gamer who only plays one or two games at a time, the Series S may be a good buy. But I'm pretty casual, don't have a ton of games, and I've been struggling with the 500GB storage limit on my PS4 for a couple years now. It can only be worse with newer games.
Its Costco. They are a warehouse retailer. They have paid members and they purchase in bulk. People pay membership fees for access to prices below MSRP. Those membership fees help pay for things being sold under MSRP.

Didn't claim that the majority have 4K TVs; the point is that they are readily available and the trend is upward - hardware and streaming services. This is an XBOX post - the Series X is next gen. 4K TVs can be found for cheap. Sure, they will sell a lot of Series S consoles, but it's not the way of the future. I'm not arguing that many will buy it; it's simple economics. People are looking for a slick deal. I'd expect that you can find a great deal on DVD players too! How's your Zune working?
You've been camping on this account for eight years, and you come out of hibernation to troll an xbox thread? This is definitely different level of fanboy. Sony can keep you. nod

I have a Series X and love it, was thinking of selling/trading in the One X I have for my kids and getting the Series S. What is everyone's thoughts on the Series S versus the One X?

I like the Series S more than my old Xbox One X despite not having the same RAM and the same native 4K gaming for most games.

I think the trade off for quick resume, the SSD boot up speeds, the higher frames, and the affordable price makes it a good device for the kids to enjoy. Only challenge is paying for games digitally and the limited storage.

The One X is a ticking time bomb. It has a design flaw where the heat exhausts right over the HDMI retimer chip. Please go to eBay and search "broken Xbox One X" and see how many pop up. Look at the descriptions. Most say, will power on but no display. My two-day old One X retimer chip blew after playing Pubg. Got a second one but the heat coming out of the back was still a problem. The One X towards the end did have a different heat sink. I know that the Cyberpunk edition did. Just do some research and you will see what I am talking about.

Really depends on what games you play too. The average size of games in my collection are about 30-40GB, (I don't play CoD) so I could be okay with that amount of storage. Also, best bet is to just buy a normal 4TB external HDD for like $80 and move games into and out of internal storage, it only takes a few min.

Don't you lose the quick resume capability when you put items on an external drive even if it is SSD?

I think the original point was that for series X|S enhanced games, you can store them on external and when you want to play them, it only takes a few minutes to move games from external to internal storage.

And for all other games which you can play directly off external storage, the quick resume feature works for them too.

Great point, migrating it from the external SSD will be faster than re-downloading the game. didnt think of that. makes it not so big of a deal to move games around

It would run on the S but.... You'd have better graphics and FPS on the series x. Also this game takes up 100GB which is a bigger portion of the storage on the S compared to the X.

If you have the funds and can wait, I'd get the X

Heck with it, bought it since I just got the 3 year ultimate game pass deal to work and was just going to play the pc games but this seems like a no brainer to work in tandem with that. Finally in stock and will be here next week.

What do you mean it works in tandem? You plan to rig the Xbox to the gaming pc?
