Sandisk tend to overheat and slow to 10MB/s after 30 seconds or so. It could take hours to fill a 256G drive. These are good for filling once then reading from. I use it to keep my music collection in my car. If you actually want to do reading/writing then the Samsung Fit Plus is the way to go. 256GB is $39 on amazon right now.

I use flash drive for similar purpose but my flash cards have been corrupted over time. I just leave the drive in the car 24/7.

I am trying to get a reliable one, how long have you used it the car?

Werid I bought a Samsung T7 external SSD and it overheats in the way you're describing for this thumbdrive.. not sure I'd trust their thumbdrives to be any better.

Purchased this earlier this year. 3 months later it's bricked. Was interested by the small profile and was hugely disappointed. Would not recommend.

Yes I noticed a lot of bad reviews from this product....I'm sure there are other people having a good experience. But I'll pass on this model. Durability Trump's price here...

I've already had a 64gb regular sized black sandisk ultra drive corrupt on me. I lost my receipt so I couldn't take advantage of the warranty.....

Thin plastic housing including where it inserts. If plug in and forget should be fine. If in and out on regular basis would look to a metal housing.

Free shipping with Amazon is nice (unless you are one of the few? that don't have Prime).
I don't know about this drive but many Amazon flash memory threads have concerns about counterfeits though.
