I have this phone and love it. This is a good deal for this phone. The camera is not iPhone quality. It will update to Android 11 after you set it up.

Both my friend and I got in on the last $99 deal. This phone is incredible for the price. Battery last me 3 to 4 days with minimal use, it lasts 2 days with moderate use. It is quick, the camera is above average and the 4gb memory tackles any task I throw at it.

T.F. uses Verizon networks and you need to have the phone "active" for 1 year before you unlock it. FYI. $90 gets you the phone, 1 year of service, 1500/1500/1.5gb(for the year, not monthly) and it rolls over each month. I am very happy with my service and the 1500/1500/1.5g has worked fine for me. They give you plenty of ways to earn free points which equal free minutes, data or texts. 1000 points = 1 gig of data or 1000 texts or 500 minutes. 5 months in and I haven't paid a dime. I have referred 7 people to tracfone and won't ever need to pay for service for at least a year(maybe 2).

Make sure to Join rewards after activating the phone on tracfone site. You can enter a referral code to get an extra 8000 points, which= 8gig of free data, texts, minutes or phone plans. You need someone's code that has already referred 4 people or you will only get 4k points instead of 8k. You can google it or just ask someone on here who has been with tracfone for a while.

How much hassle is unlocking a TracFone after completing the year of service? At that point the phone is fully unlocked including GSM?

Thanks
just got my tracfone Motorola unlocked last month, and they agreed to unlock even a few days before 1-year service completes. Give them a call and they will email you the instructions with a couple codes to enter. Very quick and easy.

Does Tracfone throttle you to 2g speeds after the data cap is reached, or will cellular data just stop working?

Is it with gestures? video? something else? Someone also suggested turning off digital wellbeing helped slightly.
It's everything. It usually can only keep +/-4 apps running in the background but if it doesn't auto close them when more are open it's brutal. Nothing crashes, it works eventually, you just have to wait. I think something is hogging all the ram, it always has at least 3.2 G in use which doesn't leave much free. I just reset it so my GF could use it and I'm going to reset it again so I can use it. Any suggestions on what I can do when I put my stuff back on to decrease ram use?

My dad is on TracFone. He re-upped (refilled) last month, so he's got 11 months to go.

If he gets this and ports his TracFone number to this new phone, will it just add 1500/1500/1500 to what he already has? And will it extend him out to 1 year from when he transfers? Any bugaboos?

I think he'd like the upgrade to the Moto G Power.

Yes. Take a screenshot of the minutes/text/data before adding just in case you need to contact support - they will add the minutes if something went wrong.

I have a Tracfone G7 that I purchased last year which should be unlockable next month. I like the phone for the most part except for the wishy washy WiFi issues that occur at the most inopportune times sometimes. I can be sitting within a few feet of my modem at home when it happens too.

For anyone who has this phone have you had any serious WiFi issues?
I have had this phone for about 7 months, running almost exclusively on Wi-Fi without any problems at all. I get at least 300 Mbps (near the router and using Google Fiber). I don't use the phone all that much, but I'd notice if I had any downtime or slow performance since I very rarely use any data on my plan. I hope this helps.

I have never had a problem with this phone and wifi, I actually had better wifi sitting on the patio of our local pub than the my friend with a Sammy note 10. Now his camera blew mine away, but he paid over $700 for his.

Stops - when you run out of anything you buy more.

...plus 3 months FI service and port in of a number. Cost is higher this way, but you can move the phone to another carrier sooner.

Google Fi you have stay with them for 3 mths with a plan to unlock, lowest I think $20, so that will be $60 plus $49. Total $109. Someone please correct me if I am misinformed.

That's correct, plus you have to port in a number to get the Fi deal. So cost is higher with Fi but you can unlock the phone sooner.

Nope, 1 year from date of activation. Technically you have paid for 1 year with the original purchase of the phone. It should be in your Tracfone portal as start and end date.
Someone mentioned being able to get the phone unlocked a couple days before their year was up.

Any idea how soon prior to a year one may be able to unlock here?

This is cheap enough with the year of service that I'm seriously considering buying some of these to donate to local shelters (homeless or battered women's), <$8/month to provide emergency cell service to those most vulnerable seems like a great deal. Will have to talk to some friends who work for those types of organizations.
