I used this to paint a bunch of things at my home during a renovation and it saved me a ton of time, and also made it possible to get coverage that I likely wouldn't be able to replicate with brush/roller. The only thing I think is a bit of a downfall is that it uses up a lot of paint very quickly. However, it's applying paint at a much faster (and more even) rate that you would with a roller/brush, so kind of a moot point and more of something to be aware of.

I also see some people talking about paint injection injuries. I had to look it up, but really? There are people out there sticking their hands in front of something spraying pressurized anything? The thought to do this never even crossed my mind...

How is this slick for only $20 and $40 off?
They seem to have gone up in price due to inflation, tariffs, and pandemic, as all things did at Home Depot.

I bought a Magnum Project Painter Plus Paint Sprayer last year and finally used it on the deck a couple months ago. While the setup was a hassle (mostly putting paper on the house and really cleaning the deck surface), the actual staining was really easy, though now I realize I could have saved my lower back with that 20" extension. Results were very even and look great. Clean up was pretty easy.

One note: Check that the tip you have is appropriate for the type of paint/stain. The one that was with mine wasn't suited for stain so I had to make a quick trip to HD for the correct one.

Rolling will always be faster
Wrong. I picked up the Project Painter version of this to use on a rental property I recently acquired. Painted the exterior addition of the home (main was brick), ceilings and primed/painted the interior of the addition, which was wood paneling. Also used it to prime/paint the existing cabinets in the kitchen. Even when considering the prep work required to prevent overspray, spraying came out way ahead (I rolled the interior walls in the other rooms, so I had a direct comparison).

As someone else mentioned, this isn't to be used for painting one wall. The cleanup, in all honesty, is not much more time consuming than properly washing out brushes/rollers; about 20 minutes when switching paint/primer or paint colors and 30 minutes when including long-term storage prep.

Would definitely recommend getting the RAC-X guard and some fine finish style tips to use in place of the standard guard/tip that come with the unit.

I bought mine refurb from cjspray seller on eBay 197 right now, but everything was brand new not used. Refurb but does come with 1 year warranty from them.. i bought it locally from them since I'm close and got a new one for free half a year later since the pump started leaking. Not sure how the warranty works on the new ones from stores.

Also, buy the Low pressure tips (green) and blue guard rac-x. Huge difference
I have a similar good ebay experience. I guess it's possible you get one that is well used and has significantly shorter pump life.

Any place to find HD coupons to make it better? (please PM if you don't want to post here).

Look up paint injection injuries and you'll never want one of these again. Too much time to prep and clean up. Not worth it
Yeah…. 8 hours to paint an entire house with taping windows….. cool story, tell us how many houses you've rolled.

I've used the x7 to paint many projects including houses. Like many others mentioned, take your time to cover and adjust your spray setting. Once you started spraying paint, you wouldn't come back to rolling after. My X7 paid for itself after uses, clean it with attached garden hose adapter.

Can someone tell me the main differences between the x5 and x7? Going to use for my house painting and fence staining.
