This is wrong. Graco Children's Products is a brand of Newell Rubbermaid. It has NO relation or affiliation with Graco Inc., a manufacturer of fluid handling equipment including paint sprayers.
Graco Inc. started off with grease equipment in the 1920's before expanding to paint sprayers in the 1950's. They've never made or sold children's products.
I painted my rental home with a graco paint gun from previous deal. It was pretty easy painting but does take a bit of time to prep. If I had to do it again I'll do the same with the gun. Forget rolling lol...1400 sp ft was done quickly and consistent. FYI it helps if the house is empty and unoccupied.
edit...it was a graco magnum project pro

Using these types of devices require a lot of time and effort masking and covering everything within 6 feet of the area you are painting. The amount of time spent doing all of this would have been better spent on a cheap roller with a rod. There is almost no exception to this rule as far as I see. I've painted a lot of rooms and these things just make more work. That isn't even taking into account the cost and overall quality of the product.
On top of all of that, you have to wear a sealed gas/fume rated mask and goggles which cost way more in 2021 than they did 5 years ago. You'll be out close to $300 before you even buy paint.
So $140 spray painter and hours spent masking everything or $0.75 roller $10 roller extender and $2 roller pale with a tarp down.
Let's also not gloss over the fact that there are about 500 different models of electric spray painters that go for 1/3rd this cost.
I also disagree, I use mine all the time to paint front doors as well as small trim jobs. One layer of 12" masking paper around the edge and a tarp on the ground. There is very little overspray, love my Graco.
I just bought a house and I want to know that too. Anyone? Thanks.
No. This is intended for smaller jobs, not for painting whole houses. The biggest job I would use it on is if you were painting an accent wall of shiplap where it would be a pain to try to brush or roll.
It could technically be done, I have used them to spray a house full of doors. I would just make sure to pause after every large section, I have had them overheat and shutdown. Also when spraying a gallon every 5 minutes it becomes very tedious to refill the cup.

Kinda disagree here. I just painted our new 2400 sqft house with mine. I bought the larger 42oz cup for mine and didn't feel like refills were annoyingly frequent and they are easy to do cleanly. I painted my previous 3200 sqft house with a graco X5 that has an intake you dunk right into a 5gal bucket. I personally didn't really like the long hose with a more pro model like that, not to mention cleanup really sucked IMO. Not having to refill a cup being the only perk. It would be great for exterior painting I think though.
I did do all my bathrooms with rollers though because surface area that needed to be painted were small so it made the most sense. But since discovering airless sprayers, I avoid brushing and rolling in nearly every other instance.

Would you use something like this to paint a 2000 Sq ft house?
technically you could but i recommend using this for smaller projects (trim outdoor tables/bench doors small rooms) i use mind mostly for staining small crafts ideal for painting stuff outdoors imo
having to change cup frequently will be discouraging the 5x better for a house that size but it could be done

I probably don't need this if I already have a Graco Magnum sprayer do I?
This would be more convenient for small jobs and less clean up however.
You would be very disappointed if you used a TrueCoat sprayer when you are used to a Magnum. There are literally only two plastic-looking tips available for TrueCoat, the spray pattern isn't that uniform because the pump isn't great, etc.
If you want a "smaller Magnum," you would probably want their Ultra series since you can use RAC X FFLP tips for a much better and uniform finish.

Thanks! I've used the magnum for rooms so far, perhaps one day for painting the exterior siding.
I've been renovating my house, I cut and fitted all the doors, trim, baseboards but have yet to paint any. My plan was to wait till they are all complete and ready for paint, setup a spray booth in garage with floor to ceiling drop cloth and knock them all out sequentially. I was wondering if something smaller would be useful for knocking out those trim items and door as they get installed

I do agree not great for inside work like painting a bed room. But great for outside work.
For inside work a HVLP sprayer is better.
