If you buy this, I'm pulling up. Dreams will be shattered. I'm undefeated in back yard and driveway play versus small uncoordinated 8-14 year olds who'd rather be playing Minecraft than basketball. But a win is a win.

I have this for 2 yrs now didn't have any issue with it. My kids and neighbors using it almost weekly. I filled it with sands and water make it extra heavy.

Kids dunking and climbing. Otherwise they don't break on their own.

Any comments on this deal? I think the hoop is priced right. Reviewers claim it works well but is difficult to assemble.

So the base is as big as the backboard maybe slightly bigger. I assume if you are buying a smaller backboard, you are concerned about space.

Not weighing down the base properly will do it.

Have the cheapo $75 lifetime 44" plastic backboard one. Lasted me 5-6 years now with probably few thousand shots so far. No dunking. Shredded original net and had to get replacement. Rest of hoop still in very good condition.

Base is filled entirely with sand. Heavy AF to move but I credit that with its longevity. Was able to move it a few times without any damage. If I had to do it again would do maybe 2/3 or 3/4 sand and rest water or just less sand.

Beg to differ. After two years of occasional use, the backboard is falling apart. Particularly, the polycarbonate backboard is dryrot, and the base is leaking sand. It may be dependent on your local weather. It seems this product cannot handle the Louisiana weather. Never dunked or even touched the rim. I basically used it to occassionally shoot hoops to prepare for the future since my kids are still too young to play.

The 50" one is about $17 more-- there another thread/discussion from a few days ago which mentioned both the 44"&50" and it was a good read for me to get some feedback from other users.

I ordered the 50" one, but realized once i got it home that they pulled the 54" acrylic for my order, which i'm in the middle of assembling now. A few of the steps will be MUCH easier if you have someone to help hold things in place until you get the bolts in place.

Live on the coastal area where it's foggy often mainly in early morning and nights , I'm guessing that wouldn't be ideal weather for this?

In this day and age, you don't get much for $100 ..... If you get 3 or 4 years out of it, that is a reasonable expenditure. I would probably spend a few dollars more and get the larger backboard...

I see these all over town on the annual cleanup day in various states of deterioration, but usually it is the base that has issues from cracking... the sun, as well as freezing/thawing from the moisture in the sand, etc. If that happens and you like where you have it, get a piece of smaller pipe, put it in the ground and attach this on top of it. Then again, new pipe is not cheap....

I've had a few different versions of these types of hoops. Even the higher end portable one I have now gets blown over with high winds here. It's filled with sand and water and a pain to move. I even put 8 pavers on the base to help keep it from blowing over. Still didn't matter. Blew over and hit my fence and broke a good chunk of it. I live in Nebraska and we Dan get some strong winds. Just be cautious if you get one and live in a high wind area.
