This is not a simple topic. Ryzen has something called infinity fabric that connects the portion of the cpu with the cores to the memory controller which is a different chiplet on the cpu. Infinity fabric speed is related to ram speed. Ryzen has historically done well on 3200 although some of the newer ones do best on 3600. More is not always better though and latency is important. If you want to maximize your Ryzen performance you should watch some YouTube videos on this topic. 3000 will make you lose some performance on Ryzen. High latencies can have a similar effect. Even the number of sticks of ram or the number of ranks on the sticks are a factor in the performance.

It makes a huge difference if you do video editing or photo editing.

You can see 32GB get used up fast if you have Lightroom and Photoshop open at the same time. Or Lightroom and something like Topaz Denoise AI. Or Adobe Premiere Pro.

But if you just game, 32GB is a sweet spot.

probably not, just a wild guess... maybe they're reducing inventory because the new Ryzen chips will be DDR5 which have a heck of a lot more bandwidth...

Is it worth waiting for a deal on the Corsair Dominator RAM to go on sale?

Guess I was not paying attention to computer prices for awhile, but when did RAM go from $80 all the way to $260?
You can still spend $80 or less for 16g. Note that mid level spec is 8g. This is for 64g.

Nope. No noticeable difference in frame rates in games at all between 32gb and 64gb of RAM. 32gb is the sweet spot right now and will be for awhile.

Arguably, 16gb is still the sweet spot for gaming at the moment if cost is any concern at all. No game yet (maybe one or two exceptions) will max out 16gigs, even with multiple active programs running. The extra $100 you'll save from moving up can be used better in other areas such as CPU or GPU. We'll probably see 16 being passed in 5 or so years, though. If $100 isn't a significant difference for you, 32 is worthwhile for other reasons.
