These things are very unlikely to happen again. WF got hit with tons of fees and penalties and invested hefty in their risk compliance departments This whole thing sent a shockwave across the industry that also benefited banks' employees. Tellers don't need to aggressively cross sell bank product anymore.
Good all-rounder for those looking for a generalist card and better than Apple Card for merchants who don't take Apple Pay (there are a sizable bunch). Points are awarded monthly and with a $25 minimum for statement credit or check back (Direct Deposit isn't possible unless you have a bank account with them). Wells Fargo's latest pay with points option (I think inspired by Chase Pay Yourself Back) can get around this threshold - redemption is 1 cent to 1 point and points balance must cover the entire amount (no partial offsets). Cell Phone Protection is a good plus, few cards offer a higher rewards rate on top of this perk.
Another thing - Wells Fargo act funny if you pay too many times a month online (I think over 3 payments blocks you from making online payments for the rest of the statement period), but you can always pay over the automated phone system if you exceed this limit.
FNBO also has a 2% cash back Visa with a pre-qualification link. Might be helpful for those who don't have perfect credit and are unsure if they'll get approved. It even tells you the credit limit they'll pre-qualify you for. I got approved yesterday; it'll be my highest limit card so far.
I applied for this WF card a couple of weeks ago. After the hard pull, they sent me a mail (not an email) asking for my last 2 pay stubs and the only way to submit it is via regular mail or fax, that's so stupid !
Same thing happened to me! Was doing an app-o-rama and Wells Fargo didn't give me an instant offer, though it dinged the credit almost immediately. I didn't know why I'd be denied, as I hadn't applied for anything recently. Anyways just got the mail requiring two stubs. Debating whether to go ahead with it or just screw it and let it timeout. Just don't wanna put my personal info over snail mail to a bunch of strangers, especially WF. That'd suck though with the hard pull in vein if. Pondering...

I was denied as I didn't want to share my current(past 3 months) pay-slips with them (I shared the 6M pay-slips before that) so I applied for an FNBO card w/ a credit limit of 25k with immediate approval. A week after getting my FNBO card I got a spam mail from Wells Fargo stating that I'm pre-approved for the same card that they had denied me for. This was not a good experience for me personally, I'm never touching Wells Fargo again.

According to one of the regional managers (good friend of mine) at WF, none of that has changed in their area. WF still supposedly doing the same stuff they been fined for, and the push to continue doing so still exist within their management.

I'm genuinely amazed they are still in business.
Yeah they are still hard selling products like before. Nothing will change there it's why I refuse to local bank with one of the big banks. Always trying to sell you something

Well I get the push to sell you their products, but when they essentially "sell you their products" without your consent or knowledge, and then end up low key charge you fees and such associated to the said products, that's downright fraud. And the fact that they're still supposedly continuing to do this, even after the slap on their wrist from the gov't is what amazes me as to how ppl still take the chance.
Also, another major case against WF that they tried to cover up was when they sold their military veterans mortgages to some other bank (like most mortgages) and delayed/withheld transacting the payments to the new lender, even though the veterans were paying WF on timely manner. Many veterans lost their homes because the new lender claimed they either never got the payment or it was always late, even though the customers weren't supposedly aware of it until the foreclosure notice came. Ones that didn't lose their houses still supposedly got their credits ruined. WF also got fined for that, but they tried to downplay it and hide it with other scandals real quick lol

Wells Fargo and Bank of America are both truly the scum of the earth
are they seriously still in business? I thought they just opened up accounts for you anyways so you don't even need to sign up to bank on this deal...
smh...
Sorry Wells Fargo - but you still suffer from a lack of trust...
That was at least 1 CEO ago...maybe 2 CEOs.

You do know they got caught in more scandals multiple times over the past several years? Last September (2021) another suit was brought by the FBI and US Attorneys... Maybe replacing just the CEO isn't enough... Perhaps it's the culture... but if you want to trust them go for it... I'd personally advise against it...
I applied and got denied although my FICO score is 833, my mortgage is paid off, have a government pension for life, and pay all my credit cards in full every month. Not bragging but my net worth (home, savings, stocks, cash) is in excess of $2 mil. I'm waiting for the letter that explains the denial.

someone in a previous post mentioned how they were denied because they never carry a balance on their current credit cards. Not sure if they told them that straight up as the reason or if they just assumed it, but it might be the reason.
They obviously can't make money off of people who pay their balances off every month.

LOL - You mean they can't make 'enough' money... The money they could make on EVERY transaction just isn't enough for these people...
