These things are very unlikely to happen again. WF got hit with tons of fees and penalties and invested hefty in their risk compliance departments This whole thing sent a shockwave across the industry that also benefited banks' employees. Tellers don't need to aggressively cross sell bank product anymore.

Good all-rounder for those looking for a generalist card and better than Apple Card for merchants who don't take Apple Pay (there are a sizable bunch). Points are awarded monthly and with a $25 minimum for statement credit or check back (Direct Deposit isn't possible unless you have a bank account with them). Wells Fargo's latest pay with points option (I think inspired by Chase Pay Yourself Back) can get around this threshold - redemption is 1 cent to 1 point and points balance must cover the entire amount (no partial offsets). Cell Phone Protection is a good plus, few cards offer a higher rewards rate on top of this perk.

Another thing - Wells Fargo act funny if you pay too many times a month online (I think over 3 payments blocks you from making online payments for the rest of the statement period), but you can always pay over the automated phone system if you exceed this limit.

FNBO also has a 2% cash back Visa with a pre-qualification link. Might be helpful for those who don't have perfect credit and are unsure if they'll get approved. It even tells you the credit limit they'll pre-qualify you for. I got approved yesterday; it'll be my highest limit card so far.

Have had a great experience with this card. Easy to achieve the bonus and WF was generous with a credit line increase not terribly long after account opening. 2% cash back adds up fast if you're paying big expenses on this. I used to pay rent on the card to maximize the cash back.Also comes with cell phone protection (which isn't terribly unique) , which I just received over a $400 payout from. 15 months interest free and I've made a good $900 off this card in the first year.

Honestly if they are giving 2% back on every transaction, that's about what the make in merchant fees. So they likely would make zero on people that always pay it off immediately. Especially given they also paid $200 bonus.

This is likely to meet some awful corporate quota for new customers and then they hope to upsell you to other products. And of course a good percentage of people will screw up their budgets and end up with a long term balance at 20%. That always happens.

Not trying to harp on them as it's not like I would ever do business there, but I looked it up... plain and simple - they bank off everyone and then when that's not enough, they do it dishonestly... and even though they get caught, the fines and punishments are never enough to change their ways... morals and ethics don't appear to be part of the corporate culture...

When you initially get approved by WF you will get an 'instant credit available' amount if they approve you instantly. That number should probably be higher in a few days or however long they take to fully process your info. I didn't even know they gave me a higher limit until I happened to look a week or so after since the lower limit was fine with me. I had under 10k initially and then it was a little more than double that. At least in my case.

Some of the initial lower limits might be initial credit available and people just didn't come back to update the new higher limit.
