These things are very unlikely to happen again. WF got hit with tons of fees and penalties and invested hefty in their risk compliance departments This whole thing sent a shockwave across the industry that also benefited banks' employees. Tellers don't need to aggressively cross sell bank product anymore.
Good all-rounder for those looking for a generalist card and better than Apple Card for merchants who don't take Apple Pay (there are a sizable bunch). Points are awarded monthly and with a $25 minimum for statement credit or check back (Direct Deposit isn't possible unless you have a bank account with them). Wells Fargo's latest pay with points option (I think inspired by Chase Pay Yourself Back) can get around this threshold - redemption is 1 cent to 1 point and points balance must cover the entire amount (no partial offsets). Cell Phone Protection is a good plus, few cards offer a higher rewards rate on top of this perk.
Another thing - Wells Fargo act funny if you pay too many times a month online (I think over 3 payments blocks you from making online payments for the rest of the statement period), but you can always pay over the automated phone system if you exceed this limit.
FNBO also has a 2% cash back Visa with a pre-qualification link. Might be helpful for those who don't have perfect credit and are unsure if they'll get approved. It even tells you the credit limit they'll pre-qualify you for. I got approved yesterday; it'll be my highest limit card so far.
I believe your initial instant approval limit is low but then it gets upped. Not sure how long it takes but I remember reading the wording used on my initial limit and that's what it sounded like, then sure enough it was upped quite a bit maybe a week or two later.
Mine never was. It's still $1500. . I just got a new card from BOA and it was $10,000 out the gate.
Doesn't matter anyway, I'm about to ditch my wells fargo card. Their reward program has the worst cash out requirements of any card I have.
Anyone know what the time frame is to reapply in the future with them for another $200 bonus?

Hard to beat 2% CB and VISA (usable at Costco unlike the Citi Double Cash MC which I also have). When used as your daily driver, the $25 minimum to redeem cashback doesn't matter much. I think my Citi Double Cash has the same minimum, as well as AMEX Blue Cash.
I applied for this in October and cancelled it last month. Last month, I received a suspicious email saying: "This is your access code to retrieve your application." came from their genuine email ID and was similar to the one I received when I opened the credit card. I reported it multiple times and contacted their support multiple times, but no one was able to tell me what triggered that application email after 6 months of account opening. I was really skeptical when I opened it the first time, even after seeing the commend about the fake accounts they created. It has never happened with any other bank.
Also they dont allow to redeem their rewards to any other bank other than wells fargo. i am happy with my Citi double cash + discover and Chase freedom . will never apply with wells fargo.
I have this card for 2 weeks now and was able to get a $22k credit limit on it. I asked to be increased to $60k but was denied because they say I have not had enough time with them yet. Applying to this card drop my credit score significantly, like about 50 points.
The con I see about this card is that you can only pay off your credit line 3 times a month with them through my BOA bill pay and they put a hold onto my account for 5 days until the credit is made available. Another con is that when I chose to have my rewards issued as a statement credit, it takes about 5 days to go through. My discover and chase unlimited goes right away and credits my account. I will give this card a shot since 2% is highest of all my cards and within 10 days, I have had over $1k of cash back already.

FYI you can buy costco gift cards at their website using a master card (or using discover for the quarters they're running 5% back on warehouse club spend)
(then again you can also beat 2% in rewards in a number of ways, especially if you travel)
I just wanted to comment on one of the underrated features about this card. It probably has the best cell phone protection out there. This might have already been discussed in the other 500 comments I don't know I haven't looked but I literally just cracked my phone about a month ago completely shattered went through the process and it was actually fairly easy to get it all paid for minus the $25 deductible. Knowing that I can do this twice a year up to $600 each time is a insane benefit that in my mind almost exceeds the 2% back. I'm even on a prepaid plan having bought my phone directly from Google and it worked. This is a great card especially if your checking is integrated with Wells Fargo and you want to stop using a screen protector.
Got this in the mail, was approved, but then they had onerous requirements to prove I was really me. I ended up not being able to gather these so took a hard pull on my file for nothing. I've gotten many cards over the years and never, ever had this BS. In fact nothing has required the level of proof they needed.

It doesn't.
Several cards offer the same level of coverage, several others offer better (like 600/claim but 3 a year, or 800 or 1000 per claim, still allowing 2 claims a year)
The higher coverage per claim is especially relevant to folks with higher end androids or almost any iphone. Now if you have a cheaper phone, and don't expect to need more than 2x/yr claims, this is "fine" but certainly not "best"
Which one is "best" will vary depending on the person (do they need more claims a year? do they need 600 vs 800 vs 1000 coverage? Do they travel at all to where certain cards make more sense than others?) but this WF card is pretty much the bottom-level tier of coverage that several other cards offer.

Interesting. Yeah for me and my wife with a pixel 6 it certainly was fine. And of course generally we're only using this to repair our screens which I doubt would ever exceed $600 no matter the type of phone but I could be wrong. I mean we're talking about fixing components not replacing an entire phone right? it cost me $279 to fix my screen initially. Can't imagine a phone that would be more than $600 to repair a screen, maybe I'm misunderstanding. Would you mind sharing what other cards offer same or better coverage with a 25 or less deductable, and allow for prepaid? A lot that I saw either have higher deductibles or mandate postpaid only.
And yeah I get the limitations and specifics of each person being different but it's a Visa card and a screen for Google's top end phone was only 50% of the limit. Seriously doubt youd run into issues but of course the topic at hand is best versus fine so I'd love to know better options as I'm always evaluating the best bang for buck.

it covers complete loss of the phone of course (both damage and theft)- which for a lot of phones is more than $600. The deductible IS usually higher on those.... but if you care about coverage to 800-1000 bucks, you're obviously ok paying an extra $25 deductible to get back $200-$400 more on the claim, that's still net +$175 or +$375.
The Cap One Venture X is a good example-- if you travel any reasonable amount the card is profitable to hold year over year-- your spend gets you 2 cap-one points, which with airline transfers can get you significantly more than 2% in value-- plus also offers $800 per claim ($50 deductible) up to $1600 per year... so effectively $750 max per claim vs $600 with the Wells coverage.
Another interesting option if you were someone likely to need a third claim each year is the Chase Ink Preferred (which also gets you 3x chase points on the phone bill- which is a lot better than 2% cash, esp if used for travel).... here you get only $600 per claim with a $50 deductible, but can make a third claim each year. Not as good as the prestige if you get an expensive phone stolen-- but if you have kids with expensive phones who damage em often might make sense.
But I agree if you ONLY care about cracked screen replacement $600 is plenty, and for you 2 claims/yr might be plenty too.... though several cards (from both Wells and USB off the top of my head) offer that with a $25 deductible.
So this may well be the best coverage for your own specific case, but as I say, best is somewhat YMMV here.
I'm curious about one thing you--- you mention you have a prepaid plan- did you get the phone as part of one?
Because Wells appears to explicitly exclude coverage on that-

Which is similar to the prepaid exclusions I've seen elsewhere. I don't think Wells (or others) exclude prepaid otherwise?
Thanks for breakdown I really appreciate that. I'm not so much into cashing in for airline travel as I don't fly that often so the wells 2% is better suited for me but I definitely see your math and understand your point a lot better. Yes I'm on a prepaid but I bought the phone directly from Google. I was worried because I've heard a lot of cards that offer this benefit exclude if you're on prepaid no matter what. So I submitted my first claim kind of on pins and needles not sure if it would fly but it ended up working out.
Although I'm sure in a few months my wife or I will lose our phone and I'll probably be back at this thread wondering why I didn't go with something that covers loss LOL
Edit - So I looked at the two cards you recommended... both have annual fees, with the cap x being $395/year? Not really something I'd go for, and definitely eats into those rewards. If there's a no annual fee that offers at least 2% or better and has the level of cell phone protection that Wells does, I'd be interested. But right now I don't see one that does and to me that's what makes the wells card such a good deal.

yes! I converted all my WF credit card to this one and merge them into 1.
