These things are very unlikely to happen again. WF got hit with tons of fees and penalties and invested hefty in their risk compliance departments This whole thing sent a shockwave across the industry that also benefited banks' employees. Tellers don't need to aggressively cross sell bank product anymore.
Good all-rounder for those looking for a generalist card and better than Apple Card for merchants who don't take Apple Pay (there are a sizable bunch). Points are awarded monthly and with a $25 minimum for statement credit or check back (Direct Deposit isn't possible unless you have a bank account with them). Wells Fargo's latest pay with points option (I think inspired by Chase Pay Yourself Back) can get around this threshold - redemption is 1 cent to 1 point and points balance must cover the entire amount (no partial offsets). Cell Phone Protection is a good plus, few cards offer a higher rewards rate on top of this perk.
Another thing - Wells Fargo act funny if you pay too many times a month online (I think over 3 payments blocks you from making online payments for the rest of the statement period), but you can always pay over the automated phone system if you exceed this limit.
FNBO also has a 2% cash back Visa with a pre-qualification link. Might be helpful for those who don't have perfect credit and are unsure if they'll get approved. It even tells you the credit limit they'll pre-qualify you for. I got approved yesterday; it'll be my highest limit card so far.
Wells Fargo has this REALLY ANNOYING way with rewards where you can only redeem $25 at a time. Probably once I'm out of my interest free period I'll just purchase enough to get a $25 interval then shelve the card. What good is cashback when you can't use it? Most cards just have a minimum of $25.
I think the best no strings 2% cash back credit cards are the Citi Double Cash and the PayPal Cash Back MasterCard. The PayPal one also gives you 3% cash back on Paypal checkout... can't really beat that. Both cards have unlimited cash back.

I do like the CDC because you can deposit any amount of your rewards to a linked checking account.
Got this card and, well, it's the same typical Wells Fargo experience I have experienced before. Wells Fargo operates in the dark ages and the customer service is horrendous. I disputed something I bought on this card and the process to dispute with Wells is archaic, time consuming, lengthily, laborious, and frustrating since they have asked me to fill out the same statement several times and when you speak with them on the phone it seems no one puts any notes in the case so you end up starting from zero with each customer service encounter.
Also, the rewards cash out is only is increments of $25. I will stick with my Fidelity 2% no-hassle card, thanks, but I'll happily take the $200 churn on the Wells card. I will be closing the account as soon as the dispute is concluded, whatever year that'll be.
I was going to apply for this card but it has 3% foreign transaction fee. So for those who like to use it for international (Canada) transactions this is not for you.
Is it difficult to get a balance increase on this card? They only gave me 10K when all my other cards have a minimum $30K. I need $41K so I can charge my tuition for this semester. A simple and free $820@2% + another $250... Good card.
How long does it take to the bonus. I spent 1000 but I dont see it yet.

I have the same question. I'm thinking is when you pay the first statement ?
Went over 1K and still no rewards or bonus posted on my account
I believe you have to wait until after the current billing cycle where you reached the $1000 spend to see the bonus show up. I'm pretty sure I saw my bonus in this time frame.

Now I know why people said "they are evil": I submitted an application 5 days ago, got an email saying "We need to verify a few pieces of information...", today I called to check the application status, was told my application got declined! I just checked my current FICO score (after their hard pull for this application), it's 820+, and I always paid full credit card payments, not even a single late during the past 10-15+ years....

That's pretty incredible 🤮 You should try and call and see if some mistake was made…that is possible
When you find out how much the hard pull lowered your score from 820, would you mind posting it here? ty

I use Fidelity Visa but they charge 1% foreign transaction fee. But no annual fee and offers 2% reward back to your fidelity account.

Is this definitely true?
I'll try it this week—the nearest branch is 20 miles away, so I just want to confirm for sure...
