The 8Tb and up sizes are 3.5" 7200rpm WD drives and there are reports of read speeds in the 300's on that 8Tb somehow in testing. This one the drive is soldered to the interface so can't use it in a pc unfortunately. I almost got this one thinking they were same speed as the 8TB glad I did some research before pulling trigger.
I have seen these a few times and I am still puzzled. What is the difference between one of these and say an easy store or passport? I know the passport typically has a longer warranty and the easy store and has digital encryption but I don't know what these drives excel at versus the others. They seem to be set up for adding to console storage But beyond that especially in a PC context are these better than the other WD drives For use on a Windows PC??

It had a weird gamey-looking case.
I got mine from Prime Day and can't see any other difference.

I've wondered that myself, I know the speed on game drives is usually usb 3.2 which is faster than 3.1 but I wonder how it would hold up as a regular hard drive.

This has the same 3 year warranty like the Passport line. From experience the casing on these will hold up a lot longer. Plus the usb 3.2 interface for a snappier performance.

It holds up fine as a regular drive. It's a marketing gimmick to make these drives seem better for gaming use when they're pretty much regular portable hard drives. I'm doubtful the difference between 3.1 or 3.2 is noticeable.
