Just don't trust any "lifetime" online service. Once they got enough "lifetime" users, most of them will shut down their business and set up a new company and new service names. Got some very bad experiences on VPN services. As a cloud storage, I'll stick on Google drive.

Definitely not true about pCloud.

I purchased a lifetime 2TB account 6/15/2017 for $250, it paid for itself in 2.5 years, so after the 2.5 years it is 'free' for me.

I never have any problems with pCloud.

Part of the value of a cloud drive is reliability and availability, not just economic. Having lived through the LiveDrive fiasco and having to rebuild my data, reconfigure all of my services to use a different provider, and re-upload (my then paltry 200GB) it's not worth my time to deal with a provider that doesn't have a clear, long term economic viability. Selling "lifetime" plans doesn't easily pay for monthly bandwidth, power, and maintenance costs, much less replacement reserves for hardware, and saving $200 over 4 years wouldn't be worth being down for weeks while having to re-upload my 2.5TB of data I store in the cloud.

Fyi they don't advertise it, but you can go up to 4TB. That's what I did personally.

Will they disappear one day...maybe, but it's been great to have thus far.

It's all about risk-reward. Worst case you lose out on some money and hopefully not data since the data should also be backed up somewhere else.

I probably had pCloud 2TB lifetime since 2019 black Friday. No issues at all. It is a good service provider. A competitor to Dropbox.

I had some lifetime VPN services as well. The experience I had with pCloud is totally different with cheap VPNs.

I would normally agree with you, but I feel pCloud may be one of the exceptions. I originally got the 500GB deal back in 2015 as a Stacksocial deal for $50 and didn't expect it to last, but here we are 6 years later and pCloud continues to update their software and services and I now find myself using it as my primary cloud drive.
It works great across Mac, Windows, and Linux and has up to date apps for Android and iOS. Not only that, but other third-party software and services, like CloudMounter and Rclone, are supporting pCloud which increases my confidence in the longevity of the service. I'm sure they have done the calculations and projections to make their business sustainable, as for me I've already upgraded once from my initial 500GB to 2TB already and may end up upgrading again a few years down the road.

Thanks for that info, I didn't realize you could upgrade higher than 2TB.

I don't know, I feel like it's a lot of money to spend especially when some sale external HDDs have been like $120 to $130 for 8tb. Could get several of those and come out having more data... and like others have said, it's not always wise to buy lifetime service to something

I agree with you. It's also good to have off site storage in the rare event of hardware failure or fire.
