Exactly! If you want to build or maintain your own system then go buy you own parts and to it. Do not even bother coming to threads about pre-built systems made by Acer, Apple, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, ect.

I do not go to threads about bread telling people you are better of sourcing your own ingredients and baking your own bread.

We have 3 of those G5 systems reviewed in that video with various graphics cards, 16GB ram, 1TB NVMe drives, and a clean install of Windows 10. All are performing very well and we have not seen any heat or performance issues. My kids play the newest games on them daily (CSGO, Doom: Annihilation, TF2, HOI4, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, ect.) While simultaneously having YouTube open, a couple web pages, and messenger programs. I feel as though the build quality was quite good for the price I paid. I could not be more satisfied with our purchase.

This Dell XPS system would be a great fit, for home, office, students, coders, CAD, miners, and even casual gamers. Pretty much everyone except PC gamer enthusiast that like to build and maintain their own systems.

If you are just an normal person that wants to get a good deal on a good PC that will probably never be opened, and the only real maintenance you do is reinstall Windows ever couple of years to clean the system up. Then this system is perfect for you.

Bad parts: If you're a hardcore gamer, go build your own system. No pre-built will meet your expectations. If you find a pre-built that meets your technical requirements, it will not meet your budget because you are paying for the service of having parts acquired and assembled. Dell gives no indication anywhere on it's site that these systems are future-proof or upgradable. So stop thinking that these are future-proof or upgradable.

Hidden charges: No. When you price out a Dell, they list things as "Included" and have up charged extras, and sometimes they have downgradable options to save you a few bucks. They set the options and the prices. You can't tell them to add or remove something from a configuration that they don't want to add or remove. The fact that they saw the On-site 1-year service as an itemized line doesn't mean it was a hidden charge, and "included" doesn't mean "free". Gamers Nexus is stupid to think that "included" means "free". It means that it's included in the price they were quoted and they wished it didn't exist. Too bad. The bit about the forced monthly subscription that you have to actively opt out of WAS true. The video says that Dell changed it and it no longer exists.

GN does nothing but complain about every single thing they review. The few things I've seen them recommend still contain backhanded insults. Nothing will ever satisfy them. That's their shtick.

We got this during winter sale. This card is a short version. The power supply is proprietary. I haven't found an aftermarket that fits with this case. I guess if you want to upgrade then you'll have to replace the case too

Most big name (Acer, Apple, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, ect..) budget pre-built computers like this come with propriety cases, PSU, and motherboards now a days. Howerever their higher end computers may come with standard size parts (CPU, drives, fans, graphics cards, RAM, ect..) are standard and can be easily upgraded/replaced/swapped.

Applause
I'm glad they worked out for you. And I'm not telling anyone that they shouldn't buy it. But you should be aware of what you are getting. Gone are the days where you can go on specs alone.

Be aware that this machine uses an entirely proprietary case and power supply. You cant swap parts or even reuse the case.

Also be aware that Dell is putting in one stick of 16gb ram, so forget about double data rate. Unless you replace with a two stick kit (extra cost).

Also be aware that these are using no name brand gpus with extremely cut down parts. Gamers nexus tore it down and it was even below Nvidia's recommended spec.

Just be aware of what you are actually getting.

Buyer beware, the i7-11700 will thermal throttle when gaming due to the inadequate CPU stock cooler. Even when using the easier to cool i7-10700 the Dell XPS hits 93°C and thermal throttles to 3.9 GHz in Battlefield V according to Dawid Does Tech Stuff.

An aftermarket cooler is $20 and a 5 minute install for anyone with zero knowledge and a YT video, more money if you want it to be quieter/cooler but not needed. Not a big deal unless you absolutely want a hands off experience, then youll lose like 10% of FPS in gaming

I would take this over HP pre-built with 3060. It is priced well given the CPU and GPU. 2x8GB RAM would be better. Still may need to upgrade CPU fan tho..
you say that until you see how weird the MB is. those front ports are not a separate pcb, they are part of the MB

If you really believe you need to replace the existing ram stick to run this on dual-channel...maybe you shouldnt review a pc at all...ideally yes, you'd want to buy a dual channle kit...but if you know anything about pc...you'd know you dont really have to..

Then don't buy a gaming gpu. There are non-gaming GPUs that are superior to these for their dedicated tasks
Ha! That is not what I said. You are making it sound like RTX cards are for gaming only, which isn't true.

Gah!! I got the i5-11600K, BD RW drive, 1660 super, 2x8 RAM, 256 M2 +1Tb HD for nearly the same price, but have to wait to Aug 5th for delivery.

Granted, the K processor comes with the VRM heatsink and the tower fan cooler.

What to do, what to do!?
My very similar G5 with a i5 CPU, never even got temperature above 55.0 C while playing a game for 45 minutes, not sure I would bother upgrading any of the cooling stuff.

So you folks may want to run "OpenHardwareMonitor" under normal circumstances for a while before buying any additional hardware.

You need to make sure your card has the offer for it. You can see your offers in the Amex website for the card in question. If you do have the offer you have to claim /add it. Then just use the card to pay at Dell.

Ordered a hp with a 3060 and it was dead on arrival. Absolute nightmare to deal with the outsourced cs and return.
