Exactly! If you want to build or maintain your own system then go buy you own parts and to it. Do not even bother coming to threads about pre-built systems made by Acer, Apple, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, ect.

I do not go to threads about bread telling people you are better of sourcing your own ingredients and baking your own bread.

We have 3 of those G5 systems reviewed in that video with various graphics cards, 16GB ram, 1TB NVMe drives, and a clean install of Windows 10. All are performing very well and we have not seen any heat or performance issues. My kids play the newest games on them daily (CSGO, Doom: Annihilation, TF2, HOI4, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, ect.) While simultaneously having YouTube open, a couple web pages, and messenger programs. I feel as though the build quality was quite good for the price I paid. I could not be more satisfied with our purchase.

This Dell XPS system would be a great fit, for home, office, students, coders, CAD, miners, and even casual gamers. Pretty much everyone except PC gamer enthusiast that like to build and maintain their own systems.

If you are just an normal person that wants to get a good deal on a good PC that will probably never be opened, and the only real maintenance you do is reinstall Windows ever couple of years to clean the system up. Then this system is perfect for you.

Bad parts: If you're a hardcore gamer, go build your own system. No pre-built will meet your expectations. If you find a pre-built that meets your technical requirements, it will not meet your budget because you are paying for the service of having parts acquired and assembled. Dell gives no indication anywhere on it's site that these systems are future-proof or upgradable. So stop thinking that these are future-proof or upgradable.

Hidden charges: No. When you price out a Dell, they list things as "Included" and have up charged extras, and sometimes they have downgradable options to save you a few bucks. They set the options and the prices. You can't tell them to add or remove something from a configuration that they don't want to add or remove. The fact that they saw the On-site 1-year service as an itemized line doesn't mean it was a hidden charge, and "included" doesn't mean "free". Gamers Nexus is stupid to think that "included" means "free". It means that it's included in the price they were quoted and they wished it didn't exist. Too bad. The bit about the forced monthly subscription that you have to actively opt out of WAS true. The video says that Dell changed it and it no longer exists.

GN does nothing but complain about every single thing they review. The few things I've seen them recommend still contain backhanded insults. Nothing will ever satisfy them. That's their shtick.

Priced this to build on pcpartspicker and it was $1483 for the cheapest* options matching the specs of this Dell.

edit: *Actually I had a Samsung SSD and theres others marginally cheaper. Id idn't really shop out the cooler or memory either and I picked a 400w PSU which is less than the Dell. So not exact but those items are low % of the price. So +/- $50
2nd edit : I had a 2060 card not the 2060 super. The super version is like $300 more if you can find one and insist on paying through the nose.

wish these came with a decent PSU for GPU upgrades down the road
The power supply is an all-12volt supply. This means the wattage in the specification is for 12 volts which is considerably more power efficient. You will have no problem running any modern high-end GPU card in these computers.

what are you doing with it if you don't game?

Most people for normal daily computer use like web surfing, using office programs, streaming then any of these cards are extreme overkill.

Gah!! I got the i5-11600K, BD RW drive, 1660 super, 2x8 RAM, 256 M2 +1Tb HD for nearly the same price, but have to wait to Aug 5th for delivery.

Granted, the K processor comes with the VRM heatsink and the tower fan cooler.

What to do, what to do!?

If the following link to the official Dell XPS 8940 page doesn't work I've copied in the text below:

https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/d...re%20needs

Prepared for your future needs

Endlessly expandable: When it comes to work or passion projects the more memory your system has, the better. Enjoy plenty of storage with capacity for one 3.5" HDD plus two 2.5" NB drives plus one internal optical drive. Three PCle slots let you add in sound cards, graphics cards, and more as you customize your machine.

Performance headroom: The XPS Desktop PSU options allow for better performance upgrades during the life of your system. The 360W PSU supports a 65W processor plus up to 150W graphics. Even more, the optional 500W PSU supports up to 95W K-series CPUs and 225W graphics.

Your command center: Connect all your devices in a snap with 10 total USB ports, including four front facing ports for easy access.

Easy to access: The optimized size of the desktop required an innovative approach to maintaining tool-less access to the internal components. Once the side is removed you gain easy access to the chassis, so you can expand and upgrade seamlessly.

Unconventional idea, but if ur not gaming, u could unload that graphics card on eBay and end up with a $450 XPS machine with solid compute, memory, storage, Windows, and upgradability.

SE, is it like sport edition or special edition? lol
I know it's not gonna happen, but I wish XPS has an AMD line... I'm still using XPS 8300, with sandybridge i5, starting to struggle, by the time Win 11 is out, I'm sure I will upgrade, so tempting...
