I'm actually struggling with this... I already have Global Entry-- which is much cheaper, already covered by existing credits on lots of cards- and only needs to be renewed once every 5 years.
Best I can tell Clear wouldn't do anything for me at all other than a shorter entry line to like 6 sports stadiums... and let me scan a fingerprint with a Kiosk instead of my ticket/ID with a TSA person, before the people who go either route get in the same xray machine line.
So even at "free" it doesn't really seem worth getting if you already have GE, unless maybe you live near one of those 6 stadiums and go there a lot.

I can't tell if it will work yet, but you may be able to get 2x people in your family using this credit. It's up to $179 for the calendar year, and anyone can get Clear for $119 after you sign up for Delta or United rewards (free to join). Then you can add a family member to Clear during checkout for an additional $60, bringing it to $179.
I just did it myself, but can't tell if it will work properly until the charges complete and credits clear.
Actually its a great deal if you have GE which includes TSA Pre which then you don't even need your ID at security points as they guide you thru the line directly to security and you cut through the line with people that only has TSA Pre - so this is a major thumbs up for people who travels frequently like me. Because sometimes at Major Airport TSA Pre is still a HUGE line. Especially when travels has started up again. Just to clarify. Thanks for the post!

FWIW I did look at it a bit further.
Average wait (pre-covid) to get all the way through security via the TSA precheck line was ~10 minutes... and AFAIK that includes the physical security (putting stuff on belt, going through xray, picking it up at the end.... .so the part Clear lets you avoid would be roughly 5ish minutes on average.
And that assumes a 0-minute wait for Clear- though it's probably pretty near that.
So the trade is basically giving a third party biometric data to save on average 5 minutes at a few dozen specific airports plus the few sports arenas.
Now, if your home airport has a clear line, and especially if it's an outlier with much above average lines... (though many of the ones on the Clear list actually have below average times per TSA) it might be worthwhile.
But in the extra reading I did find one case it'd DEFINITELY be worth it-
If TSA precheck is CLOSED-- clear still gets you past the 'regular' long line.
That doesn't happen a ton... but I have had it happen-- and getting to skip that even once a year is worth it.
So even though I don't plan to keep the Plat long-term, I'll probably go ahead and sign up anyway next time I'm at an airport where you can do so (that's also limited to the 38 or so airports they have CLEAR lines) and at least enjoy it for the year.
Also rep to Alexizupinhea for the suggestion on a way to possibly get 2 people enrolled for the one credit.

This is true. Just need it to rescue you once from a huge pre-tsa line and you are good. It doesn't happen much but I've seen it several times.

Haha luckily the airport I frequent for work all has Clear and my home airport has clear as well. With current lines for tsa pre check it can get backed up mainly during holiday travels, so it definitely came in handy. It's a plus that they finally added this, I don't think the chase sapphire reserves has this offer, which is another card a lot of people opt to instead of Amex platinum.

Yup- CSR does a global entry credit, but not Clear... AFAIK nobody does a clear credit other than Amex.... $179 on plat cards, or $100 credit on Green cards (which have a $150 annual fee)
To me the CLEAR perk, having found the "skip the line even when precheck is closed" benefit, is worth bothering to sign up for- but not something I'd put a significant cash value on.... so the AF on the Plat is still pretty hard for me to justify given a LOT of its credits are like that... the only thing I'll genuinely miss is Centurion access, but it's really hard to justify that for the cost as my home airport doesn't have a Centurion (domestic destinations often do... but they killed using em as arrival lounges a few years ago-- and they're killing free guests in about 18 months too)
The CSR it's a fair bit easier in that regard as the fee is lower, the credits it does have easier to use... plus the travel portal bonus, the superior Priority Pass benefits, the free primary car insurance, etc... (Amex offers primary car insurance, but they charge you for each rental, so if you rent several times a year that's another chunk of $ saved vs amex)....(as is the Citi Prestige if you can get good value out of the 2 4th night frees)
I never really understood how CLEAR was all that attractive.
First, it's only available in relatively few airports, generally major hubs (38).
Second, all it does is let you basically skip the TSA ID line, whether that's TSA Pre, or the regular line. That's on top of any CLEAR line (which honestly I've never observed, usually the CLEAR person has a whole lot of nothing to do). It does not let you skip any sort of security check (Xray), and does not come with TSA Pre or GE.
Third, CLEAR is $180/yr. GE is $100 every 5 years. GE is a *far* more generally compensated benefit than CLEAR from a CC perspective, and I'd wager the average person would get FAR more out of TSA Pre (which is included as part of GE, you get a KTN) than CLEAR.
The only situation where I'd say CLEAR would be worthwhile is if your local airport, and the airport you generally fly into, have CLEAR, and both could possibly have a significant proportion of TSA Pre fliers - that is, situations where you will be apt to use CLEAR all the time because it's available, AND where the Pre line might be busy.
Only in very rare, isolated cases have I found TSA Pre either unavailable or closed. In very small airports they tend to give cards for TSA Pre (you wait in the same line as everyone else but bypass some security screening), and I've only once gotten to a TSA Pre line and it was closed.
If CLEAR were an included benefit of something I already had I'd get it, but I wouldn't pay for it and I don't think I'd get a CC specifically for the benefit.
I liked using CLEAR pre-pandemic; certain airports (NE corridor for example) had ludicrous TSA lines and it really helped then. Additionally, there was access to a few baseball stadiums for games and concerts that I found like an accidental perk + finally, Hertz or Avis (cant remember which) leveraged it for quick ID which made leaving the lot 100% frictionless.
That said, I wouldn't pay for it - but did leverage when I was traveling more frequently.

Does it work if you already have been a member of United or Delta rewards. I can't find anywhere the option to sign up for clear on United Or Delta website.
