Not saying this isn't a good deal. The end of your post where you micromanage people by saying "no threadcrapping if you don't understand the deal" isn't necessary, especially when you yourself don't seem to understand the difference between free items and investing money into a future purchase. Your whole post describes the latter. FREE would be them giving you the items with either no monetary exchange, or by giving you actual money back that at is at least equal to your purchase amount.
It's the same thing with deals that are free after rewards at Office Depot or any such deal.
In the world of deal hunting at stores like Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreens, Office Depot, etc most deal hunters understand the 'free' concept in that you are given equal or more spending power to use again. These are stores that people shop at on a regular basis, so paying Wags $10 now to get $24 worth of stuff to have another $11 to spend tomorrow is actually better than them giving me $24 worth of stuff for $0 now than not having even more to spend the next time (and an extra $4 towards gift cards at FETCH if you use that app).
As for the threadcrapping, that had to do with not understanding the deal as far as the mechanics of it. I just find people who nitpick about it being 'free' especially when it's made clear as the sun in the title making much ado about nothing. No one was mislead and it's perfectly clear you have to spend the money now to get the money to spend again later. So what is the issue then? Don't want to go that route to make it free, then don't mess with it, but you can't say you weren't told even before you clicked on the thread.
And as to your 50% off the next time (head scratching) you are given back the same amount of spending power you just laid out. So the next $11 purchase is 100% paid for too, not 50% off that purchase, and you may easily earn $10 in spending power again on that purchase with wags cash or register rewards or a rebate or whatever.
and PS, Wags Cash is valid for 12 months, so the fear mongering about using it while it is valid is definitely over the top IMO.

How to get $5 more?
OP updated with links.
How to get $5 more?
you need to have also clipped the earn $5 wags cash when you spend $20 digital, however, as noted, while most accounts have it, not all do.

I earned over $11 in wags cash. Plus I'll get back the FETCH points worth another $4.

Good deal otherwise.
Good deal otherwise.
However, I did a deal just like this earlier last week, also the $5 wys $20 offer.
I bought $20 on a deodorant deal, used $10 in manu coupons (digital and paper), earn the $5 on $20 wags cash (confirmed) and a $5 Register Rewards. I just paid the tax oop net.
When Walgreens tells you 'cpns' messed it up, that could refer to Walgreens store coupons (which are often digital coupons on Wags on WAGS brand items like nuts) or an additional % off code like the recent SUNSHINE10 or the current STARS. If your total before manufacturer coupons is $22 and you apply a 10% off code taking $2.20 off the order, that $2.20 lowers your threshold spend to $19.80 before man Q's. and you won't get the $5. I learned this the hard way about a month ago. I didn't factor in that extra discount on my spend amount to get the $5.
YOU CAN USE Wags Cash to pay for another WAGS CASH deal that is based on "QUANTITY". ie, the colgate deals I have listed are buy 2, earn $2 or $4 in wags cash depending on the $3 vs $3.99 colgates.
So, you could go online, clip the digital for the colgate, add 2 to your cart, your total would be $3.98 for the two $3.99 colgates and you could redeem $3 in Wags cash to earn a new $4 in Wags cash with .98 charged to a CC.
You can also redeem wags cash on a promo like this as long as the Wags cash doesn't knock you below the $20 pre tax/pre Manu Coupon level.
IE:
Subtotal $24.48
minus $14 in Digital Man Q's (but NOT Wags store coupons like on their own products)
Minus $4 wags cash (makes the amount $20.48 towards the $5 on 20 wags cash)
Now your new OOP is only $6 + tax versus $10 + tax and you've still earned the new $5 Wags cash so you're not sitting on more and more Wags cash.
BTW, my local Walgreens has some weird pricing mistakes. For example, a 2L bottle of Dr. Pepper on-sale for $1, but the CRV came up as 40c+tax (should be only 10c in CA). Employees tried to convince me the CRV was supposed to be 40c. Easier to just void the transaction. I'm supposed to be cutting down on soda anyway.
Also thanks for explaining why people do the OD FAR deals. Yes, if you are recycling ink carts, then I definitely can see why you'd do these FAR deals. I used to do OD and Staples deals a lot, but my office supply needs have dwindled and I buy ink now mostly from Amazon or eBay -- ink is where I used to spend most of my OD $$ when I played the game. That and toilet paper

If the offer is based on 'QUANTITY' , like buy 2 tubes of Colgate or 3 bottles of shampoo to earn $x.xx of Wags Cash YOU CAN pay with wags cash and earn the new wags cash.
If the offer is based on SPEND, like buy $20 of Pizza, earn $10 Wags Cash DO NOT pay with Wags Cash.
Paying with Wags cash doesn't impact the 'quantity requirement' as you've still purchase two tubes or three bottles, thus you earn the Wags Cash offer
However, in the Pizza Example, if you have to spend $20 to earn $10 and you used $10 in wags cash, you've really only spent $10 oop towards the threshold.
If you are doing both types of deals at once for various products, it is best to split them so you don't screw up the SPEND contingent part by doing the quantity contingent part on the same order.
