Seller is electronics expo, not some random third party seller. They are an authorized harman retailer and this item is fulfilled by amazon anyway, so standard amazon easy return policy applies. Don't be spreading bs, this is a solid deal.
That's a fantastic price. Normally $99 is a deal for refurbs! They are definitely something you buy because you love the way they look, though. Someone interested in rich mids probably should stick with "studio monitor" speakers lol.

These have a fairly unique sound character - the subwoofer kinda has an air cannon sound to it, and the satellites are a bit heavy on the treble. That said, I've always been a fan of them. I'd buy another set but I'm not sure what I'd do with it....
It said item is returnable.

I have a peachtree Nova Amp. I have some fancy stuff too.

For most people they are looking for simple 2.0 or 2.1 setup. No Dac, No pre-amp, They will not be listing to FLAC or Tidal masters. They just want to listen some music off of Youtube. and play some game.

For $100 set up that does not take up tons of space on their dorm room room or apartment,
Klipsch 2.1 ofine Nor everyone want to build up a stack. If you are talking about KEF LS or some set up that takes up too much room you are talking to the wrong audience.

What do you recommend Who owns 13" laptop who just want to plug in one 3.5 mm jack and be done with around $100?

Kanto YU6 And AudioEngine A2+ is already out of the budget.
Klipsch Promedia is good under $100. I think recently they had a deal around $70 on SD.

Don't get snobby with audio if you can not suggest anything better under $100. KEF... Give me a break. Even their cheap Q150 is like $400.

KEF sounds awesome, yes. They are all around good speakers. Mine is $1350. I got it as a gift and i never have time to listen to it.

My point is if you have read the review on this speaker on amazon, it clearly says not to buy because of poor craftsmanship. That is why i recommended logitech.

Speakers on the computer is most likely going to be used for watching porn anyway and who cares what cheap brand you use?

Just go buy any brand that has least bad reviews.

By the time one can afford Kef LS speakers... or some fancy speakers.. with Dacs, preamps... power cleaners... Vinyl weights.. all that stuff, people often don't have time to listen to it or care to listen to music.. ( Those who cares seems to spend more time buying stuff then listening )

I get that this Harman Kardon Soundsticks are old model... and perhaps sounds quality is not the best, you can't crap on All $100 speakers... and whip out KEF as defense.
It's like Porsche driver crapping on Honda Civic drivers. Everyone need to start somewhere. Harman Kardon's Sub is consider lacking power.. so perhaps this is not the best place to start.. but there are $100 speakers better than 20.00 2.0 Logitech speakers.

For $100 dollars.... if one is looking for 2.1 or 2.0 set up...

There are Klipsch ProMedia 2.1, Bose Companion Series, Logtech Z serires speakers.

my vote is for Klipsch. They are coming out with bluetooth compatible model this year and non bluetooth version is clearing out.

Klipsch 2.1 Promedia... would be the best bang for the buck.. if you want to fill up small room with decent base play some game with sub.... or at least trying to have a apartment party.

I have had these speakers for over 20 years. I bought the originals in 2000 to pair for $200. The original version exclusively used USB audio (no analog input). They paired well with my PowerBook G3.

About 10 years later I bought version II since the original ones were falling apart. The glue had started to flake off, collecting as crumbs inside the bottom of the speakers and causing an buzzing noise. Version II was analog only.

In general they're a good height for laptops and look pretty good. Johnny Ive's design is pretty timeless.

One thing that bugs me is that I often see them set up incorrectly on people's desks. Make sure to swing the base around to the back so that the plastic doesn't touch the base.

Got mine today but unfortunately I have to send it back as the left speaker have a crack from back to front which looks like it originated from the screw connecting the stick to the rubber base. Frown

In their defense, logitech has made speakers about as long as they have made mice and keyboards. They also make systems much nicer than $20 satellite speakers. No they are not as beautiful, and they are definitely not Audiophile quality, but IMHO they are very good for most people.

Finally set mine up, and for what I need they're perfectly fine. I'm not trying to be like that derp at the car wash that thinks he needs to blast his song for everyone to hear. These make good sound and can fill the room if needed. I have an old Cerwin Vega 15" subwoofer tied to an old pioneer unit that I can use if I needed crazy loud bass. These are great for the price. And if you have a problem with dust, it's not that you have a problem with dust, you have a problem with cleaning.
