This model is newer (GT) and supposedly not oem by SF but more likely FSP or some other mid to low tier so be aware.

Bought it on b stock for 45 thinking what a fantastic deal. Worked for 30 minutes and kaput. At least it didn't damage anything but @ $20 per RMA shipping I'm only doing it once (1 yr warranty on evga b stock also the clever fellas).

Got lucky and used a evga 600w white that goes on sale here from BB often and it lasted 5-6 years so I'm not too worried about any psu not being from a top tier manufacturer. With all the deals everyone who checks SD and needed a PSU probably has an EVGA somewhere haha

The auto eco mode and fan orientation really hurt this PSU

I got the GA 550w for $40. 3 more years warranty, manual switch for eco mode, and a properly oriented fan.
Why's wrong with having auto-eco? And what fan fan orientation problem that I could not notice by looking at the pics?

Probably a fine enough PSU, but not going to hoard cases and power supplies until GPU and CPUs can be had below original MSRP again, so maybe never.

Glad I upgraded in late 2019 when I kinda thought my previous build was still good enough.

Auto eco isn't very intelligent so the fan runs low even at load, which means a LOT of heat. About the fan orientation, it is about the way it's installed vs the GA. There are no teardowns so I can't link you but if you have both PSUs in front of you then you'd notice the difference.

The GA with the manual switch means eco can be turned off and the fan ramps up accordingly.
The GA and the G5 are on sale, any difference between them?

I got the ga version last week from Amazon for $55. No eco mode correct? When did you get it for $40?

I haven't found any particularly in-depth reviews of either this or the GA version, but jonnyguru did just post this last week in favor of the GT over the GA: https://linustechtips.com/topic/1...t=14841803

There is also a GQ for $45 and a G+ for $60. To say that I am confused as to what to go with is a massive understatement.

Bought this 6 months ago for about $80. Works great so far. Using x570 tomahawk, 1660ti, 16gb ram 3200, and Ryzen 5 5600x. No issues whatsoever gaming with overclocked GPU and work multitasking.

This is GOOD feedback for Slickdealers, IMHO. Thanks,

Not sure I can trust what you are saying. I have both the GA and the GT. The fan is not running at all on tbe GT, confirming auto-eco works perfectly. Also, I don't see any difference between the fan orientations in these 2 models.
