Patently false
Reputable manufacturers specify the luminosity according to the ISO 21118 standard. Projectors on Amazon selling for ~$100 post luminosity figures without specifying conditions. In other words, they're marketing BS.
Also, resolution and brightness (whether falsified or accurate) are not the only metrics that determine a good image.
If you can point me to a ~$100 projector that is 1080p+ native and has more than 2500 lumens according to the ANSI or ISO 21118 standard, I'll eat my words and consider buying you a beverage. Otherwise, please stop trolling.

I purchased this projector from epson at the beginning of pandemic. After 2 months observed white spot at a certain location on screen (when it was dark scene it would be visible). Called epson, they sent replacement after putting hold on my card. Replacement had same problem, called again and got another replacement with same problem. It took many phone calls and i think 3 or 4 replacement after which they said they will have someone test it at there headquarters b4 sending me next one. Thats how i finally got a flawless projector. Overall it was a huge PITA to go through this.

Projector itself is of very good quality

I say 3700 unless you need 4k immediately (especially if you're a gamer as the 3800 is HDMI 2.0) But I also would need to upgrade my receiver to support 4k (it's hdmi 1.4 Doh ) which will cost a fortune due to my theater setup requiring more than 100 (actual delivered) watts per channel so I'm somewhat biased laugh out loud. My thought on getting the 2150 years ago was the savings on lamps would pay for itself eventually and I would run it as my main tv for ~5 years until 4k projectors dropped to 1k. If I were buying a "new" PJ today I'd get the 3700 refurbished and set my 4k upgrade date to ~2 more years but you know your wallet's flexibility more than any of us. You won't be disappointed with either I'd say, especially as they take the same $99 lamp.
Thank you so much for your insight!

(Edit: 2 yrs later after discontinuing the PJ the lamp is now $59 shipped from Epson)
Great 1080p projector for rooms that are not light controlled, it's a light cannon. I've noticed you get some flickering before the lamp fully goes out so you'll replace them more frequently however the lamps are much cheaper than any other projector I've seen ($59 shipped from Epson) They go out of stock fairly regularly so keep one on hand... It's even acceptable for casual FPS gaming (for a projector) bought it for $700 new 2 yrs ago and have no regrets.
Same experience. I use for gaming all the time (not competitive) playing pinball on the Switch and find it great, even in a mostly-open room during the day.

Also 3D. If you want your children to experience the MCU as God and Disney intended, this may be the only way left.

FWIW I have been less than impressed with 3D and can see why it's on the outs. For one thing, even with a very bright projector like the Epson 3700, 3D still appears dim. And then of course there's the fact that it's not really 3D but rather 2 x 2D. Overall I found it to be a very short lived novelty.

BTW, for those interested, I'm using Samsung SSG-3300GR glasses. I assume there are better glasses but no so much better to change my opinion. If you want to give 3D a try I suggest you look at your local classifieds for used glasses. Also, apparently the best movie to showcase 3D is "Flying Swords of Dragon's Gate [amazon.com]".

Got it at 499 one month ago. Very happy with it. I used it in basement so ECO mode is bright enough for me.

New to the projector world. Would you consider this to be a long throw projector? My ceiling mount is 11 feet from the screen.

Not really "insight"

TLDR version:
If you watch any 4k content now.
Anything less will be a disappointment.

The happy medium is 4k enhanced(until true 4k projectors are more affordable).

If you are starting from scratch, would look into at a minimum the Epson 3800 or the similarly priced BenQ (I personally went with the 3800 not a gamer).

Unless you are doing a 100"+ screen consider an 85" 4K TV (especially if its a small room)

I bought a house with a 92" screen and a 720p projector...what a disappointment when compared with the Samsung Q8 4k TV. Was just going to use the 85" TV for the theater room. Then would still need to buy a Samsung Q8 75" Or OLED 77 for Family room.
That would have cost more than the epson 3800 plus the screen.
So did just that, bought 120" screen and the 3800.

Put the 85" in family room.

Now have a proper theater experience...on a budget...Everyone says WOWPeace

Epson 3800 $1385
Elite Screens AEON 120" $376

Hey Slickdeals, I am in need of some help on this one. I plan to buy a new projector for a basement theater room that will be completely light controlled. I will get a screen that will likely be about 120-150 inches, and plan to mostly play 1080p content. I will have a receiver and a 5.2 speaker system connected. I am looking at this projector and the 2100. For the price, am I missing anything? Or is this as good a buy as it looks?

Where do you see that it's the same 2 year warranty on ebay?
[Update] They have just updated their listing. It is indeed a 2 year limited warranty.

I have mine mounted at a few inches less than 11ft and get a 120 inch screen. Using it projected onto a grey wall, no screen. Honestly can't believe there is better image quality out there but have very little to compare to.
