Would anyone recommend this as a side/up-grade from a Breville Barista Express 870XL? Wife has started to get a little tired of tamping grounds and frothing milk manually. Been looking into super-auto espresso machines, but no comparison between shots. I'm more worried about the quality of the espresso shot

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

These are complex little machines. They also do break down if not maintained.
I have gone through two Saecos (Philips) that broke past cost effective repair. We now have a De Longhi Magnifica refurb from Seattle Coffeegear that has been running daily for 8 years.
The Saecos (Phillips) each broke down early. When I took the last Saeco to Seattle's Coffeegear for repair, the repair guy at the store recommended a DeLonghi Magnifica for durability. That was good advice.

///Make sure you learn how to clean out the insides on these./// Brew element etc. Not just decalc.
Otherwise these are great devices. Hard to go back to something else.

I paid $700 and this machine is worth it. I had a bad o-ring and support sent me some parts at my request instead of shipping my machine. Then they called and followed up to make sure it was repaired.

I also got one of these last time they went on sale--probably around this time last year. Zero regrets. I had been doing pourover or cold brew for beginning of COVID when free office coffee was no longer available, but this machine has been incredibly convenient and I 100% would buy it again. Cleaning is easy, and the quality of each cup is perfectly fine.

I've been hearing good things about Cometeer recently, and would be curious to try a side-by-side between what this machine can do and one of fhose pods...though this machine would be half the cost / cup (with reasonable depreciation assumptions).

Are these fake posts praising this machine? Why not buy an Italian made Rancilio Silvia that's built like a tank and get a good grinder and actually learn how to pull a shot of espresso
Because some people just prefer the one button convenience of a super auto, even if it's not Italian coffee aficionado quality, its good enough for many - and better than a Mr. coffee or single use pods.

For me, I can walk away without doing any cleanup in the AM.
I empty the puck container once a week, cleaning the tray, carafe, element takes 5 min once a week, fill the beans up every few weeks.

It's probably not the same as a fancy Italian machine but for me, it's exceeded what I thought it could do.

I would, having owned both (I have the version without the milk frother).

Making a huge mess, wasting beans, and taking 5x longer to make 1 coffee, versus pressing a button. If you have the time and patience, the Breville can be amazing, but I'm super happy with the super auto Philips.

Freshly grown fruit is much better than store bought. Why not get a bunch of fruit trees and actually learn how to grow your produce?

How does the milk container work? I assume you have to take it in and out of the fridge? What about the tubing?
It lifts off of the unit. You put milk in to make a drink (or drinks). When done making drinks you pour remaining milk back into milk jug from which it came. Then you take the milk container off the unit and give it a quick rinse/wash to get all the milk foam off of it and keep it from getting nasty (as dairy products are prone to develop funkiness over time). It's super easy and takes less than a minute to clean each day. I've had this for 6 months now and love it.

1. You'll get a much better shot of espresso with the Silvia.
2. The steaming power is much greater and dry which will give amazing microfoam for latte art if you wish.
3. All metal built like a tank
4. Resale value is high because people know these machines can last decades if taken care of. I have seen 20 year old Silvias still sell for $450+
5. It's still a semi-automatic machine. It's not a manual or a stove top espresso.

Or if you're ultra lazy and have a flat surface in your fridge, just put the container back in the fridge and refill after each use. Milk does get gnarly so I'd wash the container at least once a week.

Just watched the review on the 3200 vs 4300 and there doesn't seem to be any major differences aside from the LCD on the 4300 which gives you more reminders to clean the compartments, and a little more ability to customize your drink. It also sounds like the 4300 is better suited for multi-users. If none of that applies, the 3200 would be the better bang for your buck.

I've had my 3200 LatteGo for about a year and use it nearly everyday. Maintenance is minimal and convenience is through the roof. Absolutely no regrets.

Yeah, assuming same internals between 3200 and 4300 just an added screen and profiles. Definitely not worth it for me.
