Along those lines, I recently read, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak: 'It's time to recognize the right to repair' , https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/09/te...index.html
It is high time it happens in all fields instead of the path of thumbing down of our kids that has happened in the last 40 or so years. Instead of tinkerers (my mentors were), we have become mall workers and gave away all fun jobs to outsiders.
I know this comment is not exactly related to this product but is worth considering.

Is that how these things are supposed to work?
Are these designed for large outbuildings?

1) I probably only need about 10ft of lineset. Can I simply coil up the rest and put it where it doesn't interfere with the air flow?
2) On the beach just north of boston, it will get down to single digits. Does anyone have any real world feedback on the heat pump handling these conditions? The Mitsubishi 12k, was never able to get about 69 degrees if the temp was in the 20s or lower. I am hoping the 18k will be better.

Harbor freight vacuum pump-$100 after tax https://www.harborfreight.com/25-...61245.html [harborfreight.com]
I'm not sure who would say Pioneer is the leading brand aside from themselves.
Mitsubishi, Fujitsu and Daikin are the leading brands for quality here.
For volume -mid grade you have Gree and Midea
Just about any other brands aside from Mitsu, Fujitsu and Daikin are rebrands of Gree/Midea.
Pioneer is made by Midea.
A lot of people here are confusing DIY units with non DIY units. AFIK Mr Cool makes the only DIY unit I know of. Key differences to this:
You do not need vacuum pump (checks for leaks / ensures proper install/seals)
You do not need to flare / braze lineset (requires tools/skill)
Mr Cool will warranty homeowner installed unit.
Contrary to regular (non DIY) which Mr Cool also sells a line which requires licensed HVAC tech to install for warranty.
Most decent HVAC companies will not install any equipment provided by homeowner (so they can markup units they sell) they will not go anywhere near Mr Cool or DIY. Some will not service homeowner installed unit. If you install cheaper non DIY unit yourself and do not pull vacuum you are much more likley to have refrigerant leak in a year or two.
Seer is self explanatory - the higher the number the better the efficiency. Lower SEER units will be cheaper. It is up to you to determine if increased cost for higher seer unit will be a long term payoff.
Hope this helps.
