You're correct, you would NOT be eligible for the 80k bonus points from this card. Per the fine print:
Bonus ThankYou® Points are not available if you received a new cardmember bonus for Citi Rewards+®, Citi ThankYou® Preferred, Citi ThankYou® Premier/Citi Premier® or Citi Prestige®, or if you have closed any of these accounts, in the past 24 months.
So, it's not even 5/48 like chase. It's 1/24? Wow, two years for one credit card?
There's a few other benefits like no foreign transaction fees, which is important because the Costcos in Canada don't accept VISA, only MASTERCARD so if you don't have this card you'll need monopoly money to survive.
Was just there last month….my USA Costco card worked just fine in Ontario costcos.
Thanks. I understood. Called them up to ask if I can prepay, and they said I'll have to mail-in a cheque to be deposited to the account. No provision of online deposit before the statement is out.
I prepay my balance online all the time and Citi is glad to accept it.. you can never pay more than your balance, why would you want to? They don't pay interest.

5/24 is across all banks/cards. This 1/24 limit is specifically for thank you point earning cards. Chase has a similar limit of 1/48 for Chase Sapphire cards.

The thing is I got approved for $500 CL & I've to spend $3000 in 120 days, which won't be possible. So, wanted to pre-pay to purchase something >$500.
