I would also like to know when it would end, as I'm still not done with the $4k spend requirement for Chase Sapphire. That too, this being a MasterCard, cannot use at Costco where I make most of my BIG purchases :-(.
Buy a Costco gift card online and use in store.

How do you say so? Cash gives you the same value as gift cards to my knowledge.

No one knows about this?

With Citi you cannot downgrade, product change, convert from one product family to another product family.

You're talking about house brand credit card family converting to a cobranded retail credit card.

Answer is heck no.

It can likely only be converted into Prestige (up) or Preferred (down).

I worked it out in the end.

Getting another thank you rewards card and cancelling the existing one would not prevent your existing points from expiring.

I have to take out the new card, get the bonus and then downgrade but not cancel the existing card.

See my previous posts in this thread for an account of my experience in this matter.

Does the annual fee count towards the $4,000 requirement in the first 3 months?

Can I cancel this CC after using for just one year without penalty?
edit: got the order of the answers wrong

I think this can be redeemed to pay mortgage and/or student loans?
Yes used to be the case at 1 ccp. Now if do not have mortgage or other load the technique to redeem for cash is actually issue mortgage check to the name of your bank where you have checking account and when depositing just write your checking account number by hand on the check. Easy peasy, not sure if they closed this loophole recently though.

There's a few other benefits like no foreign transaction fees, which is important because the Costcos in Canada don't accept VISA, only MASTERCARD so if you don't have this card you'll need monopoly money to survive.

Technically $700 after fee, still the amount is worth it.
Other benefits folks here quite likely have from other credit cards already.

No only redeemable in gift cards which sucks unless they have Amazon.
I think thank you pt are only .75 per dollar if used at Amazon...
So these are effectively 2pt per dollar spend on restaurants, supermarket etc

Better just get double cash card which doesn't use thank you pt system

Had pretty bad experiences with Citi. I had a bunch of Thank You points on a card that I was holding on to until I could spend the points. But they closed the account without my approval because I didn't use it for a few months. When I asked them to cash out the points, they said I can't anymore since the account was inactive. I don't trust them when they say points don't expire, since they clearly can take away access at some point. Maybe my experience was unique. It's just something to keep in mind for people who are thinking about opening this card and not spending the rewards right away.

I'd note that article is from 2018.

My experience is from 3 chats, 2 phone agents and a retention manager.

I had their best card, Prestige. And I was only offered this Card in this thread or the thank you preferred which I already have.

I was told unequivocally that you can only switch to the same rewards category, i.e. thank you cards.

Please be aware Citi and most major credit card issuers have rewritten a lot of rules in the last couple of years to respond to what they perceive as shenanigans by the customers.

I'd give more credence to rules mentioned on Citi website, but not much to old blogs.
