Fit2Run's online returns are a pain. I don't recommend buying from them online unless you've tried the shoe on already. I paid $12 to mail a pair of shoes back with USPS and didn't get refunded within 3 weeks of them receiving the shoes so I contacted them via email. About 1 week later, I got a response and a refund.
With that being said, receiving the shoes was smooth and I can see why their shoes are cheaper than others. Not offering paid return shipping can save the retailer and allow them to offer shoes at a really competitive price.
I have the non ST version of these shoes and love them for trail running. I purchases a pair of Salomon speedcross 5 (what was in stock at my store) for the real messy trails but the Speedcross has a 10mm drop and that seems to cause ankle stability issues for me. So i have been waiting and waiting for the Peregrine 10 ST to go on sale since they have a 4mm drop.

Just bought a pair of these during their 4th sale. Took them out during over the weekend in the rain and the deeper lugs offer considerable more grip than my regular Peregrine 10s. Upper, while not totally waterproof, offers a bit of rain resistance as well. I came away impressed and glad that I picked up a pair.
I tried these when they were priced at $55. As an earlier comment says, the lugs are deeper than I would choose for non-muddy trails. In the right application, this is a great shoe at a great price. The non-ST will be more flexible for general trail running though and still have fairly aggressive lugs.
As to the company's return policy, I didn't have any issues with it. Order with PayPal and they'll refund you the return shipping costs. I do think it took longer than normal to have the refund processed.
Are these good for occasional hiking trips? I hate taking my running shoes on hikes and don't do hikes often enough to get a dedicated hiking shoes.
They'd be pretty good. The ST version is specifically made for mud and the lugs are very deep. If it's a hard packed trail, they might get uncomfortable. Using them on trails with softer terrain would be best.

Thanks ! Repped. Most trails I do are dirt path trails with occasional tree roots and rocks but mostly dirt & gravels.
