Wow, It actually showed up for me on my ebay homepage. I was about to post. And I haven't qualified for an ebay bucks promo in about a year.
Interesting. I used to almost never qualify for them when we had the 1% eBay bucks. Ever since eBay got rid of the 1%, I have qualified for every single one.
That sounds right. I think you earn them only during promos. Honestly, while eBay is still a great place to find obscure things and collectibles, the whole ecosystem there is so much less seller and especially buyer friendly than it used to be. I remember when 8% or 10% eBay bucks, plus an extra 1% for using PayPal, and no sales tax, was the norm.
Yeah, Amazon took over. Their logistics is more standardized. Ebay targets certain demographics and they can no longer compete on the shipping front based on their faulty model of incentives. If they focus on shipping by a strategic partner and maybe do some digital stuff, they'll be back in the game but I doubt it. You never saw ebay pay while you see shopify pay now.
I'm curious: has anyone received the offer that has eBay bucks available from last quarter's eBay bucks certificate? Now that eBay bucks don't expire for a year, I wonder if this will be a new variable to take into account.
I'm also among those who have eBay Bucks available from the last quarter and got this offer. eBay's factors/variables for getting these offers are very random, and no one has ever figured out a distinct pattern. I have gotten every offer since February, and I don't buy stuff every time. But I got no offers during the whole final quarter last year and didn't get the first one this year in late January. Usually, I've only missed a couple of offers a year over the last 5 years or so.

It says I am not sign up for eBay bucks. How to sign up because I been using eBay for over 10 years. Thanks
eBay sent me a message saying that the eBay bucks program has ended and I am no longer eligible. Apparently, 20-years of membership and thousands of transactions isn't enough to stay in the club.
In the past, if a vendor like Best Buy or Newegg offered a new item that I wanted, I might have chosen the buy through eBay to get the bucks. Without this incentive, I am not going to bother with eBay.

Ebay bucks were only 1 percent to begin with. No big deal. PayPal gets you 5 percent off using Discover.
Oddly I think that even applies to chinese junk too. Seems like a lot of chinese sellers would rather offer their products via prime for less money than on ebay. Even aliexpress prices arent what they used to be for a lot of goods. I dont understand the logic behind this, maybe they are willing to take lower income on Amazon to try and build up reviews, and then raise prices? And ive stopped selling on ebay since they forced people to link their bank accounts instead of paypal, I wasnt doing anything shady, I just dont want to give ebay my bank account number, I wouldnt give it to Amazon either.
Why does linking your bank account to ebay worry you? I've had zero issues with unauthorized bank access in twenty years of handing that info out when needed to big platforms. Nobody is immune from a breach, but I'd trust eBay to keep that secure. Their business would be crushed if they messed up.
