Correct - looking at the "Specs" tab, it comes with 1 filter.

Buying direct from costco is obviously a better deal (brand new, comes with that extra filter for 100), but this isn't too bad if you're unable to wait.
Doesn't ship to California
It can't do miracles. It's a small/medium fan connected to a hepa filter. It does what it can, you won't find another air purifier of this size (at any price level) that will be able to do much better. Maybe try replacing your carbon filter more often and manually setting it on high until you think your room is clearer.

Also it should be noted that while Costco has official filters on sale for $30 there are also generics on Amazon that are less.

you made me do it.

loaded with some tacos last night and i finally tested. it turned to red after a few seconds. stayed there for 5 min, then switched to orange for another 5 min then back to green. now i know its working fine. but it has to be a few inches next to the sensor though. so how does it suck up my whole room across the other corners?
You need professional cleaning if there is a smell in the room and not an air purifier. It's not the air that is creating the smell. Locate the source and you should be good to go.

Be warned bought 2 past deals waa even cheaper 1 had fan clunking noise and other missing hepa filter and those like 50 or so plus tax and ship... Woot wanted me to pay to return ship back to them and wont reimburse and winix aré liars and cs a fing joke. Both shipped from winix company. Worst CS and quality control is so trash there now .. people dont care these days but the ones with common sense might. So i say wait for costco sale on new one it comes with 2 hepa filters too and i think sale often 99?

I bought all the generic ones on there they are junk. I use it near litter box and my 1 year old hepa filter still clears his fresh poo and such but generic i smell in other room when he goes. So testing failed on generic there not even close to being as good as the real stuff why not buy a sheet and tape over old one and use that since it dont matter to most if it works good or not use without hepa why not use charcoal bet many say that works perfect too lol

The Costco sale seems pretty regular. I'm going to hold out. Anyone have any guesses when we'll see it again? Seems like the $99 deal pops up every month or two, so I'm guessing within a few weeks it'll pop back up.

As a follow up to my earlier comment, I would recommend that you take some time to consider how this operates. It's not completely different from the "ionic breeze" in that it is creating ions that enter the air stream (I don't believe it is generating ozone though). Several industry and medical journals are advising caution. See the following from the lancet: Plasma Generators "are generally considered less scientifically defensible due to their often unproven efficacies and due to their potential for degrading the quality of the air through the generation of harmful secondary pollutants."

In addition, the Washington State department of health is openly recommending against the technology due to potential harmful byproducts. I recommend doing your research. HEPA and Carbon filtration is well reviewed and research is voluminous.

my utility company offers $50 rebate for purifier. also saw this advertised at costco.
Make it a hell of a deal getting it at $99 from costco.

Why would your utility company do that ??

well, if i can solve the source of smell, i dont need this air purifier.

Your air purifier started up, realized it would never win and gave up. Find the source of the smell. And if you can't find it call a professional to find it. Every odor has a source. Sometimes its just harder to find. You may be better off with an ozone generator to kill off the source of the smell. Close off the room, run the generator, vent the room out. Don't breathe the ozone!

Amazon replacement filters for $20. $50 is never gonna happen for refurbished units of this quality

Ok $100- $20 is $80, but you cant compare third party generic from Amazon with Winix brand (especially as you are concerned with quality) , so you extra included Winix filter worth at least $30. So cost of new humidifier is $70 when on sale at Costco for $99 with extra filter set - if you want to buy a used refurb for $63 go head, Id rather have new for the equivalent of $7 more, plus Costco's amazing return policy

If anyone can magically make the Costco one $99 again, that's great, but for today $70 is a decent difference from $130. I still might go new and Costco for that price difference, but all depends if you need one now and weren't shopping on July 4 Smilie

Purchased this air purifier from Costco with $30 coupon a week ago. It suddenly stopped working after one day of use. Two fan speed lights were blinking and the fan wouldn't start. I read the product review and some people had same problem.
Contacted Winix no help. Costco refused to replace the unit, only allowed refund. I also noticed that this air purifier is made in Thailand not Korea.

I got a similar version but I heard keeping the plasmawave on is bad? I've been leaving it on any reason not to?
