I have the 8yg and I love it. What people need to google and have a basic understanding of is room acoustics. I have this setup in a 12x12 room and it fills it with sound. Of course if I put this in my living room with higher ceilings it's gonna suck eggs. You also need to be sitting within a certain distance of the bar to experience the atmos effects. Atmos and true 5.1 HD sounds great especially with the AI room calibration.
Do you know whats the best setup for a high ceiling living room… no matter whatever i try i dont even get to hear the dialogues clearly… currently stuck with yamaha receiver and bose speakers since i got vex of these speaker systems… if anyone know please let me know the best setup for a high ceiling living room… TIA
Get the rear speakers for sure. Huge improvement. I have the 8YG and love it with the rears. I was unimpressed out of the box but then figured out all the best settings and have been happy ever since.

I have the 8YG in a high ceiling living room and have no complaints. I have the rear speakers, though. Granted, I've never listened to it in a small room but it sounds good to me and I am a bit picky. I had to change some settings in my TV and PS4 to get the best sound, along with fiddling around the sound bar settings.

Not knowing your layout and or environment hard to say but I doubt your high ceilings are the main culprit.
Check your placements, settings and run room correction to start.
I get people try to squeeze out as much as they can from a budget but the one thing you don't want to skimp on is a center with a HT setup.
Common mistake people make(IMO) they stretch their budget to include "Atmos" causing them to sacrifice the quality of their whole setup.
Just because it says "Atmos" doesn't necessarily mean "better".
