Go with 28 - 75 2.8 tamron. Not too expensive and versatile.

Tamron 28-75 would be the cheapest lens worth buying if you're looking for a similar range. Full frame is expensive though, that's just something you'll have to come to grips with if you want good lenses.

anyone who has one run into shutter problems? I see a class action lawsuit and petition for the alpha a7III with shutters failing less than 50k

I haven't seen many reports of this. I wouldn't put too much stock into someone filing a suit. That doesn't mean much. If you look at the complaint it mentions just a few other reports of this.
