If your gonna be pairing it wireless I highly advise against it, the HK app is awful, it loses connection often and the audio cracked/lags constantly.
There is a button on each speaker that connects them for stereo. I just pair my phone to both and hit the buttons on both and they work great. Never use the app for that. If you pair to both and don't use that button you get two mono speakers.

In my setup, they're used outdoors, under a gazebo and are about 6 ft apart. Where I see the biggest issue is stopping playback while they're linked. When playback resumes, sometimes it's just out of the speaker that's paired to the tablet/phone.
Old school? Ha! You've clearly not been here long enough... Old school was the HP Tablet!
You and I joined the same month. Probably during the fire sale. Haha. This other guy joined 6 years later. Never thought I'd be on any forum long enough to be an old-timer. 😢
