I'd be sure and keep a copy of that if you take the offer
(which I would- I do have the travel card but never use it after having gotten its own signup-- this conversion would get me a SUB without a new account/hard pull AND let me ditch the premium rewards card that forced me to find value in the airline credit to keep getting 2.625% cash back on non-cat purchases)

There are many factors that cause a change on credit score. How do you ensure the change was due to your account conversion? How many points of change was it? You did not mention BoA had a hard pull on you so I assume they didn't. They're supposedly not to for a product change anyway.
Oh, by the way, if what you said is true and BoA was committing a fraud to shill you applying the card, you absolutely have the right to dispute whatever related to the new account showing on your credit report with all three credit bureaus.

I have a BoA visa cash rewards card and i got the offer for upgrading it to unlimited cash rewards card with $200 cash back... i called BoA and asked to be upgraded... a week later got the new card in mail along with my credit score letter...already spoke to BoA rep and raised a dispute ..im disappointed n hopeless if anything can happen now as it has caused remarkable dent on my credit score...hence im trying to make everyone aware so that others can learn from my mistakes

For those who receive an invite for the switch and the $200 bonus offer, it'd be better to do the switch online with the registration code on the offer letter. The code ties to this specific offer and you will have everything documented when doing it online.
I mainly still use my Master Card there only when I need to do big purchases and I have no cash as I have 7-8% Interest rate as oppose to 14.99-15.99 on my other credit cards.

As others mentioned, to get Platinum Honors (which boosts CB rate from 1.5 to 2.625 on this card), you need to have $100k in your BoA account (you would be crazy to keep that much $$ in your checking account earning zero interest) or a linked Merrill account for investing/retirement.
All of my BofA cards are set to autopay the statement balance. I set these up years ago so had forgotten it was a silly, unnecessarily-lengthy process, but it is possible:

Aside from the $2M you need in a Fidelity account to get that (vs $100k for BoA), you also have to pay to have your assets managed (0.2-1.5%), which negates any marginal benefit you get with 3% vs 2.625% from BoA.

The 100K balance is the average balance over 3 months. Therefore, if you had transferred 300K from an online saving account to Bofa for 30 days.. it will be (300K + 0 + 0) / 3 months = 100K. you will make their Platinum Honors status. Then you can move it once confirmed.
You don't need to keep the 100K in the checking for 12 months... a bit of work but it's worth it. but if you have IRAs and other brokerages with Merrill.. this would be a no one brainer.
From their website: "Your tier is based on your qualifying combined balances in your Bank of America® deposit and/or Merrill® investment accounts. Once you are a Preferred Rewards member, you'll keep your program benefits for at least a full year, so no need to worry if your balances dip temporarily. In addition, your balances are reviewed monthly to see if you qualify for a higher tier. If so, you'll automatically move to the next level of rewards."
