We have an acquaintance that works at Samsung in Plano, TX who a few months ago said that they'll use the chip shortage as the reason not to come out with a new Note but that they already have no intention of doing anymore work on future Note phones. The chip shortage is just a convenient excuse to consolidate the phone lines.

Kind of sad to be honest, I LOVE the Note series. I've had a 4, 8 and now 10+. I guess it's going to be a while till I upgrade again. In all honesty I use the stylus very little, I mainly like the square-ish shape larger screen/battery and the spec bump they usually received.

Dang you must have some rich friends. I don't know anyone with these phones.
One of my friends started with the Fold 1 and it never broke, ever.

Then, everyone wanted one 😂

Upgraded to the Fold 2 and it broke in a month.

Yeah she is full of crap. UbreakIfix does it same day.
I remember not all cities have UBIF. In those cases, you need to mail the phone in for repairs.

At my local UBIF, they told me its going to take 2-3 days for diagnosis and then additional time depending on the repair. Granted it wasnt a glass crack issue but still, depending on how busy they are its not always carry-in and carry out service.

I see there is a lot of excitement here over this launch. Is the trade in prices out yet? I am not really following this thread because If the trade in prices are low, then there is no point paying 1k+ for a foldable phone yet.

If S21 launch is anything to go by, they offered great trade-in value but the phone price actually dropped by as much as 15% in under a month. Luckily Samsung was price-matching then but now they have stopped doing that. Even after those great prices and trade in deals, the phone still is selling less than S10 and S20 series.

They don't just use UBreakIFix. They contract out too other companies in other cities.

I am not sure how I feel about the AMD GPU on phone. I would rather have better battery life. If they have figured out how to add GPU cores without overheating the thing and not killing the battery then great.

How are the new AMD laptops vs Intel laptops when comparing battery life?

I was excited to join the fold club with my friends and I know my friends will upgrade, I sent them the link.

But cameras are more important to me.

Fold 3 doesn't have great cameras. That's why I am not buying.

They are almost identical to the Fold 2

So Samsung is really going to hurt. Their is no way with the Fold they will be able to do much damage. Xiaomi overtook Samsung this quarter for the first time ever. Its looking bad for Samsung all because they are shoving to peoples throats the Fold models. They should of also brought the Samsung Note being their signature phone along with the Fold models, but nope this year no Note series.

I've been getting a new phone for the last few years every 6 months, between the S series and the Note series launches. I've used a Fold2 for a week and it was very underwhelming. I guess it's back to normal person life only getting the S Ultra series once a year.

I am interested in a new Watch Active 3 though if it comes out.

The whole point is to have a tablet in your pocket. This form factor is useful for reading comics. With spen support it can act as a drawing tablet for me. However, I'll wait a few years before trying foldables.

Tbh I want a foldable Windows/Linux tablet, not phone.

I don't think you can root any newer Samsung phones unless you get the international model correct?
