DROP + SENNHEISER PC38X GAMING HEADSET $139 - $30 off.

If you don't know Drop.com, they used to be known as Massdrop.com. They have been around a long time. Reputable company. Used to focus on organizing group buys to direct ship products to you from vendors at wholesale prices. Now they just get decent prices all around.

If you're familiar with the Sennheiser GSP 500, GSP 600 or Game One headsets, this is better version of them all.

I've had Game Ones for years and bought the PC38x for $170 last year. Even though it's cheaper now, I don't regret the purchase. Sound reproduction is better than my older Game Ones. These are really great open air headphones, mic is very good too. My personal favorite thing about the mic is the manual shut off by swinging the mic arm upwards.

I don't have personal experience, so I couldn't tell you.

However, one of the biggest differences is the purpose. This is a gaming headset and includes a really high quality microphone with Sennheiser quality speakers and build.
This headset comes with 2 cables. The shorter cable has a stereo output and microphone input integrated into the same jack (TRRS). The longer cable has 2 jacks for plugging into the stereo output and microphone input on your computer or other audio device. Here is a video to explain the differences: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4hy63fEgA0 The easy way to remember is count how many black bands are on the jack. Generally,

1 black band = mono (single channel)
2 black bands = stereo (2 channels)
3 black bands = stereo plus mic input (3 channels)
Sorry to answer my own question but I was watching this review and I think that yes, this will work for me: https://youtu.be/zNjO98dZUGQ?t=147

Sorry if I wasted anyone's time!

Having used both the soundstage of the X2 is much more pronounced. More bass more punctuation. However for video gaming these are great as the soundstage is immense and locational awareness is great. Also the mic is very high quality and mutes when you life up and pull down. I started with a X2 and a modmic but I greatly prefer the all inclusive product these offer. That being said if I had to choose I would go fully wireless as the cord for these is long and high quality(heavy).

In terms of what? gaming? pick this one. Music ? pick the X2. x2 is more musical and fun to listen to but 38x is more analytical and better with imaging. Also build quality goes to X2. Best way is to own both laugh out loud

I love sennheiser and all my headphones are sennheiser and I need a new mic'd sennheiser headset. So this is perfect for me. But my question is that I have an old computer that has a jack for sound and a jack for a mic. Now whenever I look at gaming headsets, they have a magical single mail 1/8" connector and I don't understand how that works with, say, a classic motherboard that has in and out 1/8".

Will this work with my computer that requires a jack for each way?

I had a pair of Monoprice headsets where the ear cushions started to disintegrate getting black pieces everywhere. Everyone seem to have had these sennheisers forever, do the cushions ever disintegrate?

I wouldn't try to compare a music headset to a gaming headset.

Gaming headsets are usually factory biased to enhance gaming experience and of course has a microphone. (though this Sennheiser seems to have flatter frequency response than others)

Good or professional music headset tends to be a monitor with flat frequency response (which is not easy to make) to have closest reproduction of the sound and users listen it as original sound or use equalizer to tune to their like.
Of course, some people like basshead prefer factory biased headset already tuned to their like (then they shouldn't pay extra for a monitor headset)

My preference is to use a monitor headset with microphone and use equalizer to have a separate profile to tune for gaming experience

It comes with both cables. Traditional and console. It's all in the description

My sennheiser's cushions never disintegrated, but I did have to replace them after washing them 10+ times. I used very hot water and I guess that un did the glue so that's mainly my fault for the replacement.

I have this pair. Awesome for gaming and music. Period. Check reviews.
Unfortunately, I cannot loosen the clamp even after owning since launch. Any other tips besides placing on something for a long time?
