The Coway is currently rated the top air purifier on WireCutter [nytimes.com], but in their review they rank the Winix at nearly the same performance.

If you get the Costco Winix on sale for $99 with the additional filters, that's definitely a better deal, but with wildfire season upon us it may be wise to purchase the Coway now.

How does this compare to the Costco Winix at $129?

These were $119 in December when I purchased for a gift but I haven't seen it that low since. Snagged one for myself at this price, with free next day delivery too! Thanks OP!

Thanks got one. I got the one that looks like a speaker for $150 a few months back and it's been great so now I'm getting one for upstairs. Looks like this is a newer version of that model. Hoping they use the same filters.
It looks like they do: LINK [cowaymega.com] . Like you, I also have the "iPod Shuffle" version Smilie

Biggest problem has been filters for me. Oem coway and
aftermarket filters all have this 'scent' complaint. Like a chemical or straight out of the factory smell reportedly. Oem filters are also pricey. I got a recent random one on Amazon and so far it's been fine.

Thanks! Grabbed this one for living and kitchen space since I cook a lot. The smoke after cooking is terrible. Hope it works!

This one is more sensitive than my winix 5500 and thats something! This one is quiet too. Bought it when it was on sale at $99 and would buy it again. PS, most utility companies will have rebates
Rebates for an air filter??

Looks like anything that covers a larger area is more than double the price of this. It also won't come close to covering the 722 sqft two of these would. So maybe just get two of these?

I bought these because of wirecutter's article and can tell you with regular upkeep and cleaning, I'm not getting another version. I bought one before the really bad fire/smoke seasons of the past couple years in northern California. I bought a 2nd to run in my 1000 Sqft apartment and now I'm buying a 3rd for my 1500 sq ft home. Won't buy another brand without well these have been used and even beaten up by my children. I do have two iPod shuffle versions, so I can't speak about this one, but I'm willing to bet it still is great.

Always check the CADR (clean air delivery rate) when shopping for an air purifier.

Coway Airmega 200M: Dust 246 / Pollen 240 / Smoke 233
Winix C535: Dust 243 / Pollen 246 / Smoke 232

Very close specs so it really depends on aesthetics, additional features or price.

They are the same. I own this for my office and bought another for the back bedroom. My house has allergy sufferers and I swear by Coway products. I have their larger 400M in my living room set to automatically come on for 12 hours daily. These work like a champ and filter replacement costs are not insane, given you go with non-OEM filters.

I'm not that guy but I bought this aftermarket filter and it fit well with no bad odor at all: https://www.vevafilters.com/produ...5627211459 When I go to the site it gives me a promo code for 15% off which is why I buy it there instead of Amazon but it is on Amazon too if you need it in 2 days.

I have no problem buying manufacturer replacement filters but for some reason the actual Conway brand filters have bad reviews complaining about the same awful smell spanning several years with seemingly no fix from the manufacturer. Most of the aftermarket ones on Amazon had reviews complaining about fitment.

LPT for those who use these air filters: Don't bother with the 'automatic' setting. On a recommendation I found (I think on wirecutter), I just set my filters to one below the max and let them run 24/7. All of mine (winix and conway) have been going for years with no issues. I'll kick them on to max every once in awhile to catch allergens if I'm airing out my house but otherwise there is no need for it to jump around from low to max.

I'm looking for something to help circulate the air to minimize exposure to Covid in a 150 sq ft room with no windows in an office building. I'm reading that having an air purifier isn't protection from the virus, but it's better than not having one when you can't open windows otherwise

Thanks OP! Hoping this helps with some of the odors from the 3D printing and the pets!

I bought two of the $100 Costco winix ones when they were on sale. If I had to choose, I would still go with the winix, no complaints and came with a years supply of filters so I would say the winix is better value and therefore better. I don't need to mess around with non OEM filters either since winix filters are sold for relatively cheap as well.
