The Coway is currently rated the top air purifier on WireCutter [nytimes.com], but in their review they rank the Winix at nearly the same performance.

If you get the Costco Winix on sale for $99 with the additional filters, that's definitely a better deal, but with wildfire season upon us it may be wise to purchase the Coway now.

How does this compare to the Costco Winix at $129?

These were $119 in December when I purchased for a gift but I haven't seen it that low since. Snagged one for myself at this price, with free next day delivery too! Thanks OP!

Thanks! Grabbed this one for living and kitchen space since I cook a lot. The smoke after cooking is terrible. Hope it works!
You need to find one that has a replaceable carbon filter if you want to get rid of smoke and smells.

I got one during Black Friday. It works really well, I didn't have any allergies during allergy season.

I ended up doing my own DYI Air Purifier w/ existing box fan, 20 x 20 x 1 Basic Household Pleated MERV 8 - FPR 4 Air Filter with paint tape. LOL.

I have both and might be swapping entirely to the Costco winix c545 mainly due to how convenient the app is and the color matches my white walls better.

This coway is absolutely better in every way possible including a filter that will last longer and cost around the same. On the lowest speed I personally find it more quiet. The auto mode seems more aggressive than the winix. I've had my coway longer and expect it to last longer lol.
The Coway is actually inferior to the C545 in CADR. Not by very much, but that means it's not better. Also, it has equivalent square footage coverage

Also, the Coway's main filter doesn't last longer: they're both one year. The outer filter may last longer, at 6 months vs 3 months, but both inner filters are equal.

Edit: what's with the TD? The 200M is in no way an overall superior device, and this is supported by facts. It's an equivalent device to the C535/C545.

I bought two of the $100 Costco winix ones when they were on sale. If I had to choose, I would still go with the winix, no complaints and came with a years supply of filters so I would say the winix is better value and therefore better. I don't need to mess around with non OEM filters either since winix filters are sold for relatively cheap as well.
I did the same and live in Michigan and have Consumers Energy as my electricity provider and you can apply to receive up to (2) $50 rebates, which have already been paid from when I bought the WINIX. So if you can grab the WINIX from Costco when on sale, and have rebates in your area, that's a VERY cheap option. The rebates work with any "Energy Star" air purifier, so DO check your company to see if you are eligible!

I'm looking for something to help circulate the air to minimize exposure to Covid in a 150 sq ft room with no windows in an office building. I'm reading that having an air purifier isn't protection from the virus, but it's better than not having one when you can't open windows otherwise
if you're in an enclosed 150ft room, the coway would be great.
if in a larger space, like an open floorplan, airflow becomes more significant, and id consider the dyson dp01 since it's something that can be sat on a desk and pointed in your direction (even though its overpriced etc).

It really depends on how you use it. If you leave it on all the time year around, the box fan will end up being more expensive because if uses far more energy (5-10x). The filters also require more frequent replacement because there's no pre filter. They're also less effective.

But if you're just using it 2-3 months out of the year for wildfire or allergens, the box fan is a good option.

Only problem is the Dysons have atrocious CADR ratings (something like 44 or so), it's so bad they don't even list it on their site (ironically you have to find it on their Chinese listings since China requires it to be listed!).

They boast of their "air multiplier technology," which is great for a fan but not great for filtration since like 92% of the air is sucked from the back to the front, without going through the HEPA filter at the bottom.
