This is the 2021 refreshed base version for the G14. This has Ryzen 7 5800HS, 16GB DDR4 (8GB soldered + 8GB DIMM) and a full power GTX 1650 4GB GDDR6 Graphics. The display is 1080p 60 Hz though, not 120 Hz or 144 Hz.

That's a deal-killer for me and seems like the kind of choice that kills mind-share for an otherwise kick-ass line of laptops.

What makes this a deal-killer? I am seriously considering this, but I don't know enough to know what the issue is. Please advise. Thanks in advance.

That is a deal-killer if you are planning to use it for mainly gaming as gamers prefer displays with faster refresh rate, like 144 Hz or higher. Otherwise, this is a great deal.

Probably not a deal breaker considering in only has GTX1650. The point is, why do you want a screen at 120hz or more if your GTX1650 will probably never even reach those FPS.

It's like, hey I want a my car to have Speedometer that shows max 400mph, 15,000 rpm tach, tires rated at 500mph, and a parachute brake... yet your car is a Corolla. I mean, it's nice to have them but would you ever use it?

1650 can push >60 fps on eSports titles

It's also a 14" screen. I don't understand why you would need 120+hz when the screen is this small. I have this computer, and is a great productive small laptop that can also handle gaming. If I want to play FPS, I could plug it into a good monitor and handle it pretty well.

I think it's like any other device. Having the higher hz/fps is always a nice bonus. That said, it's not a deal breaker. Just a "oh, 120-144hz would've been nice here, bummer, but 60hz gaming on the 1650 is still a good time".

Yeah it would be a nice bragging point to show my friends, but probably unnoticeable on a screen this small. Either way, it would've been nice to throw in at least the 120hz but far from a deal breaker for me.

Genuinely asking, are there better 1k laptops with current gen GPUs? The specs on this seem balanced

Yes. But they are sold out. 3050s and 3060s are now put into a mid tier budget laptop. I'll look up links in a sec

Obviously some other quality is lacking like chassis etc

Victus and TUF by far wins:

2020 version had a 75whr battery too(older cpu and only 8gb for $800 march '21). This is a decent productivity laptop and the chassis is solid, often a display model at Bestbuy if people want to check it out. I would buy this if I don't already have 2 other laptops.
