Ni No Kuni keeps dropping. So tempted if nothing but for the Studio Ghibli artwork. But just don't have the time to play RPGs anymore.
Amnesia and Blossom Tales are both pretty good. Amnesia is a horror game. Blossom Tales is an homage to A Link to the Past, though admittedly not as good but not bad for the price.
If I recall correctly, Ni No Kuni has a difficulty mode selector when you first start the game, so you could potentially eliminate a lot of the grinding by choosing the easier mode.

I bought a physical copy of Wrath of the White Witch for switch. It was pretty good for a while. Some of the trading mechanics are kind of fun. However, combat became tedious. Progression felt slow. Catching rare monsters felt too rare, frustrating. Leveling your creatures is very grindy. I was very excited for this game and it's art style. I ended up enjoying the second one so much more.
I have similar opinion as you. The most annoying thing was finding ingredients for recipes essential to improving stats and crafting good weapons. The ingredients are scattered all over the world and there's no built in map to quickly locate previously found items. The running is so slow. And omg the in-game encyclopedia sucks. There's no search function given how often you need to reference it. This is an overrated game, to be honest, but it's a good game. It just needs a LOT of quality of life adjustments. Worth $10, yes.

Homage to ALTTP... more like just another straight ripoff. RPGMaker trash is all the same and nothing compares to the original.
