Bad deal when you can get a mushkin pilot-e 1tb or sn550 1tb for the same price (110) that will blow the 980 non pro out of the water in performance... samsung ssds way overpriced for how bad they are
What are you talking about? the SN550 does not outperform the 980 at all, i have both of these driver and ran benches back to back in the same machine, on my HP Omen both 1TB models, as for dramless NVME the 980 is one of the best performing ones out there, go look at reviews from sites its not a crap as people make them out to be. It runs a little hotter then my SN550 about 3-4c but its def faster.

The other thread has Amazon listed on the OP along with many others that price matched.

This is a BUDGET drive, not the same as the excellent Samsung Evo drives you might be used to seeing.

No one is claiming it is though, just like everyone knows the SN550 is no SN750 but if I had to chose between a SN550 vs this "budget" 980 I'd still take the 980 and I have both. I use it mainly to store games, my C drive is a SK Hynix P31 perfect for C drive.

Wasn't this just $93.50 at Newegg? That's like 18% increase

Samsung names it like the old, better ones, and is apparently pricing it similarly. Kinda sketchy IMO

This is a great deal. Apparently, this doesn't have DRAM, for those of you that are interested. Great performance for the price, though.

I am curious about this.

I read reviews about these 2 drives (1 TB model). 980 has much larger dynamic SLC cache. However, when the drive uses up its SLC cache or 80% full, SN550 would beat it because SN550 direct-to-TLC performance is much better.

What do you think?

Why omen over Thinkpad or precision?
