Are you saying Newegg themselves is selling fake goods or the third party sellers they allow to use their site?

This was frontpage a month ago for $60. $45 is a one day sale at Newegg. Bestbuy has it for $50 for those that don't like Newegg.

It's TLC, not actually MLC (which implies 2-bits-per-cel). 600 TBW endurance for 1 TB
Source: https://semiconductor.samsung.com...l-ssd/980/

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this one.

Samsung had a problem with 980 Pro recently, I don't think this non-Pro was ever affected: https://www.tomshardware.com/news...are-update

BTW, promo code ain't a mail-in rebate, it's an instant discount.

I think you mean they had a problem with 990 Pro's recently. The TBW lifespan was drastically accelerating for customers that bought them but I heard a firmware update fixed these issues. I've been running a 980 Pro for 2 years with no issues.

If you can get SN770 for same price then get that, it's PCIe 4 and faster.

Advantages of SSDs with DRAM
Solid State Drives with a DRAM chip boast better performance than DRAM-less SSDs. This is because DRAM is much faster than NAND Flash memory. Instead of your PC having to root around your SSD for the relevant data, your PC can go straight to the DRAM. As a result, your PC won't have to wait very long for your SSD to retrieve the data it needs. This results in a much faster experience for the end user.
Flash memory cannot be written to byte by byte, you need to "nuke" an entire block. DRAM memory, however, doesn't have this problem. So they use this to store some bookkeeping information and rearrange writes so they can more efficiently erase and fill blocks (e.g. instead of one write request arriving for one byte, rerecording the entire block, then another for the byte next to it, again having to rerecord the entire block… they just cache the requests in DRAM, and then do it all in one go).
