This is likely a coupon glitch on the Lenovo website, and it's hard to say if they'll honor it. You can customize a Lenovo Legion 5 17" (AMD) with all the options (5800H, Win 10 Pro, 16GB, 1TB, 3070), and the price will stay at $1149.

https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/lapt...customize?

Ships in 2-3 (varies) months. Use perksatwork to get <$1100 price.
  • Processor : AMD® Ryzen™ 7 5800H Processor (3.20 GHz, up to 4.40 GHz Max Boost, 8 Cores, 16 Threads, 16 MB Cache)
  • Operating System : Windows 10 Home 64
  • Operating System Language : Windows 10 Home 64 English
  • Microsoft Productivity Software : None
  • Memory : 16 GB DDR4 3200MHz (2 x 8 GB)
  • Second Solid State Drive : 1 TB PCIe SSD
  • Display : 17.3" FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS, anti-glare with Dolby Vision™, 300 nits, 144Hz

  • Camera : 720p HD

ALSO WORKS for Legion 5 Pro 16" AMD model, ships in 2-3 weeks

https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/lapt...MD00000468

You can customize it to 5800H, 32GB, 1TB+1TB, 3070 for $1499 and ships in 2-3 weeks. Better than the $1400 Walmart deal because that one has 16GB and 512GB SSD. (Personally I can't stand the lid design on L5 Pro, so I returned that to Walmart and getting the L5 17" model).
  • Processor : AMD® Ryzen™ 7 5800H Processor (3.20 GHz, up to 4.40 GHz Max Boost, 8 Cores, 16 Threads, 16 MB Cache)

Hi Lenovo Rep yes this is Michael and I'm trying to take advantage of a price error but when I don't follow the OPs instructions on Slickdeals the price error disappears can you help me?
The Pro 5 supposedly ships in 10-12 business days as opposed to 3+ months for the normal Legion 5 17" model. I took a shot at this; after-tax total of $1,647.50 for the Pro 5 with:

● AMD® Ryzen™ 7 5800H Processor (3.20 GHz, up to 4.40 GHz Max Boost, 8 Cores, 16 Threads, 16 MB Cache)
● Windows 10 Pro 64 English
● 32 GB DDR4 3200MHz (2 x 16 GB)
● 1 TB PCIe SSD
● 1 TB PCIe SSD
● 16.0" WQXGA (2560 x 1600) IPS, anti-glare with Dolby Vision™, HDR 400, 500 nits, 165Hz
● NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX™ 3070 8GB
● 720p HD
● Array Microphone
● Storm Grey
● Backlit 4 Zone RGB - US English
● Wi-Fi 802.11AX (2 x 2) & Bluetooth® 5.1
● Anodizing
● PC/ABS
● 4 Cell Li-Polymer 80Wh
● 300W AC
● Publication-English
● 1 Year Depot or Carry-in

Fingers crossed to get this laptop at $950 off the retail price!

I, too, got the email from Lenovo asking me to be patient with their processing.

I ordered a full kitted Legion 5 Pro 16", and I am still showing a Dec 7th arrival.

Ah, what do you mean by burn-in in this case?

Burn in is putting the machine through its paces by running programs which purposefully stress all the components, generating as much heat as possible. A machine which is under engineered or has defective components will halt or throw an error message during a burn in.

While running prime 95, linpack, or pcmark, my thinkpad p15 went to 99-100 degrees C nearly instantly, and within a few minutes it went from its highest clock of 4.8 ghz down to 3.2 ghz. For perspective, my p51 from 3 years ago with a 7820hq could hold 3.9 ghz all day long.

So much for "ultra performance mode" lol

Same email and date. Whatever keeps our laptops and them safe right? The date appears to be a placeholder for a pool of orders/

So does this mean that I have to use Amd optimus( run the rtx 3079 thru the Amd Vega card to get free sync ) or can I use the mux to enable discrete gpu and use the rtx 3070 solely and achieve free sync ?

In order to prevent screen tearing, you have a couple of options:
  • For the L5P laptop screen, you can toggle the mux switch to turn optimus on (enables hybrid mode; dGPU signal routes through iGPU; FreeSync) or off (disables hybrid mode; dGPU only; G-Sync).
  • For the 17 inch L5 laptop screen, you will need to turn optimus on since the screen is FreeSync Premium only.
  • For external displays, since the HDMI and display ports are connected to dGPU only, you will need to use a G-Sync compatible monitor/TV/display.
    • Some FreeSync displays, but not all, are G-Sync compatible either officially or unofficially.
    • You can view the list of displays that are officially G-Sync compatible here: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/gefo...ors/specs/
    • Normally, you will have to connect via one of USB-C ports that support DisplayPort, but there are a select number of TVs that support G-Sync via HDMI.
  • For all displays, as an alternative solution, you can enable VSync, which is a software-based solution. This works pretty well for eliminating screen tearing, but increases the input lag significantly more than the other options.

Legion 5 17" has a MUX switch which is nice, but saw in one of the reviews that Freesync is available only when MUX is disabled (or in Hybrid mode only).

There is a good review of the exact, maxed out Legion 5 (17") model. Should answer most of our questions:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCtSczRbQOA

Summary of the video
  • Overall, screen is great (3ms, 100% SRGB, Freesync), but currently, Freesync is available only in the Hybrid mode. No freesync when MUX is enabled!
  • Performance (by default / with stock RAM):
    • Timespy - 10469 (Graphics 10753 / CPU 9109)
    • Shadow of Tomd Raider (1080p, Highest setting) - 105 fps
    • Cinebench R23 - 12602 (Multi + Single core)
    • Warzone (1080p, Hybrid mode/freesync ON): 105 fps
    • Warzone (1080p, Hybrid mode/freesync OFF): 117 fps
  • Thermals: GPU has great thermals but CPU hovers around 90 degrees (both in Cinebench and Timespy)
  • Laptop comes with "bad", 1Rx16 RAMs. Swapping them with "good" RAMs did improve performance significantly. He has also created a great video of it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKLPp4aK0UE [youtube.com]
    • The upgraded RAM kit he got - https://www.kingston.com/dataShee...BK2_32.pdf
    • Game1
      • Shadow of Tomb Raider (Stock RAM): 105 fps
      • Shadow of Tomb Raider (Upgraded RAM): 121 fps!
    • Game2
      • Warzone (Stock RAM): 120 fps
      • Warzone (Upgraded RAM): 135 fps
    • Game3
      • Cyberpunk RT Ultra, DLSS Quality (Stock RAM): 56 fps
      • Cyberpunk RT Ultra, DLSS Quality (Upgraded RAM): 62 fps

Thank you! I was wondering how well it would be able to run Warzone!
Also, that should be a featured comment!

Also, it looks like the TDP of the 3070 in the 2021 17 inch Legion 5 is 140W instead of the 130W erroneously reported on the Lenovo website, as shown in this Legion comparison video: https://youtu.be/7TgrL7gHc48?t=4470

140W is the max GPU power of any laptop 3070, so that's good.

Some other YT videos of interest I found helpful for reviewing the not really well covered yet 2021 17 inch Legion 5 (17ACH6H) with 3070 include:

I'm pumped to get the 17" version to replace my Costco MSI from last year. I just hope I can output to my freesync monitor and use it as a suitable desktop replacement
