Chat is the key. It works MUCH better than calling or trying to do it yourself online.

While in chat:

1) confirm with the rep that the sim card you bought has the proper minutes/texts/data

2) confirm with the rep what your existing account has for minutes/texts/data

3) ask the rep to add your new sim card stats to your existing account

4) while still in chat, make sure that everything was added correctly (can take a few minutes to update) ask the rep for the totals so that it's on the transcript

5) get the chat transcript and save it

This way if there's any question at all, you have the transcript to prove what you should have.

For those activating new service, I highly recommend joining the tracfone rewards program and use a referral code. A referral will provide generous benefits such as free airtime, text, data and minutes. Search for TracFone code on Reddit.
Note: Tracfone states you must join tracfone rewards within 14 days of account creation and apply your code within that time in order to get a referral bonus.

I initiated the "return process" through Ebay - next step is for seller to verify request. Will see where that leads me.

These are a great deal at $30, especially with the add a line and referral bonuses. Can really rack up points for free service.

Would have never thought about Tracfone as my primary provider, but have proven better deal with the rewards than the Redpocket service I used to have.

Watch the referrals... do them from different devices and IPs. They took 48k from me because I used the same phone to enter the codes. Fought to get them back but even with a BBB case they eventually denied.

Probably older people who have their kids/grandkids acting as their IT/Tech support.

Need to make sure you turn off data on cellular for lots of apps or it can blow through the data very quickly if you aren't careful.
