Fingerprint reader is just super convenient for logging in quickly. I've got no complaints about the screen but I don't think I'm picky about it, either. Just a small warning that you can hit the dim key enough to actually turn the screen OFF and I have no idea why. First time I did it I was just spamming the dimmer to get it to the lowest setting and was looking at something else while doing so. I thought I was gonna have to take it back to the store for a failed display in the first 48 hours but thankfully figured it out.
Only minor complaints are that the screen is 'heavy' in that if I try to move around with it open it sometimes falls back or opens more due to its own weight and a little movement. Also the angle in which I use the laptop is such that I can see the backlight under the keys directly.
Only major complaint is that it sometimes does not wake up. If I leave it and it falls asleep, when I come back and try to use it the thing just doesn't wake up. The keys are lit up but the screen is black. Have researched it a number of times and have seen a few threads with a lot of people complaining of the same but have not figured out how to fix it. Seems to have gotten better since I started just putting the computer into hibernate manually with the power button when I'm done with it instead of letting it go to sleep.
All in all I really like the computer.

Personally, I'm not enamored with a 300 nit16:9 screen.
Also unfortunate it has 3200 memory instead of 4266. If you're gonna solder it, at least put the good memory on. Bummer for the igpu.
16:10 and 400 nits minimum. 3:2 and 500 nits preferred.
But nice screens cost more money.
Would RAM slots really have made it all that much thicker? Even if it would have, they could have specced a bigger battery in that extra vertical space anyhow.
If you want good battery time and a productive laptop, stick with 1080p and and i5/R5 or i7/R7.

I was thinking of perhaps getting this, transferring my hard drive over and selling the 4700u as the extra power might be good for when I do heavy photo editing.
I don't really notice the fan that much while I'm using it, but oddly enough notice it when I'm done and I'm ready to put the laptop away. That is, it often seemed to kick on when I was putting it to sleep and I don't know why that would be. This leads me to set it down on its lid / upside down because I often set it on top of another laptop and don't want it heating it up. It's never gotten hot enough to bother me while using it but I don't do anything intensive. Just stuff on the web and the occasional Word or Excel document.
As far as battery life I use it for short periods at home and charge it occasionally overnight when I notice that it's low. So I'm sorry but I can't really provide any useful feedback regarding battery life.
Exactly what an engineering student needs to compliment their desktop.

I have the ThinkBook also, and I always just shutdown, which allows a clean reboot each time. Love Lenovo products. Now have 3 Lenovo 2-in-1 laptops since June 2020.
