I wonder what the trade in for a fold 2 will be. I'm thinking of trading in my note 10 plus an iphone 11 pro and getting this fold 2 for like 200 dollars, then when the fold 3 comes out, I can trade this new fold 2 in if they give a real good trade in for it.
Wonders whether Samsung is going to give Zfold3 the same trade in values.
Assume Z fold 3 is still priced at $1799. After trading in my note 20 ultra and s10e, the price will be
($1800 - $850 - $450 - $100) * 0.95 (epp) * 0.9 (cb) ~= $350 tax included with some accessories credit?
I am wondering if I should buy now to secure a Z fold 2 until Z fold 3 price is released.
I tried to do some math to see if it is better to trade in now for fold 2 and then again for fold 3. I don't think the math makes sense. I have a note 10+ and S8. I am not going to take epp into account on the fold3 purchase because don't know how it will affect trade in (see my post above).
So trade in with note 10+ and S8 will get me a price of 625+tax= about 675 for me.
Then trade in assuming i get let's say 850 for the fold 2 + extra 100 so 1800-850-100 =850. If I do this I can trade another S8 and get it down to 700. So I am spending 625+ 700= 1325 + tax and that's if you have an extra phone to trade in otherwise it is 1475.
If I skip the fold2 and do only for fold 3, 1800-625-150-100 = 925 + tax
Plus, there is a chance the trade in value may be higher for fold 3 because it is a new phone release ( they claim max value during the preorder).
Is my math correct?
If the second phone is of higher value like your s10e, then it is $370+ tax. Then when trading in for fold 3:
1800-850-100= 850 and if you have another phone to trade in let's say S8, then down to 700. So total spent is 700+370 =1070 (or 1220 if you don't have an extra phone)

I appreciate you trying to do the math but there's a whole lot of unknowns regarding the trade in values when the fold3 is released (including what the trade in value will be for a fold2). I think the best thing to do for maximizing your value would be to order the Fold2 at it's current discount, and trade in your phone(s) at this current highest value. Being that the fold2 won't ship until mid-August you can always cancel if it's determined that you will get more value for your trades when the fold3 is released.

i was somewhat basing on someone else saying last time for the fold2, the fold1 got 800. I am estimating 850 to be conservative. Fold2 trade in would have to be like 1150 or 1200 for it to even be close.

Yes, but there would be so much more to factor in than just the trade in value of the Fold2. For example, if I were to purchase this Fold2, the trade in values of my Note 20 Ultra is $850 and my s9 plus is $250. If those trade in values will be the same for the Fold3 then yes it would make more sense to hold off for the Fold3. But as many of us know, Samsung's trade in values vary depending on the new phone you are purchasing. With the Fold3 being a generation newer, it's possible that the trade in values of most phones 2 generations and older will go down.

I think if anything, the trade in value when buying a fold3 will go up, especially the higher end phones. That's usually the case to offset the non-discounted retail debut price of the phone. Probably not true for the s9 or s8 though, but again, we won't know.
Based on my math, it would just seem unlikely that it would swing THAT differently on the lower side.
I guess if you were fine with settling with fold2 if fold3 trade in were not good, then get the fold2 for now. But if ultimately if your intention is to end up with fold 3, then i think it would be a far stretch to think that you could benefit from going fold2 then trade for fold3.

Keep in mind, with EDU, you actually lose some of the discount when you trade in so you are not getting the full value of the trade in.
So with Note 10+ trade in, it says value is $625, but your final price is 763 instead of 716 (1341-625)
Does anyone know what it was for last year?
EDIT: Found my answer it was $800
So, they're giving you zero bonus for trading in a phone. Lol.
Shit deal

Where did ya get a note 20 ultra for $250? Gf broke mine last week and a new screen is more than that.
