Orbit has been around a long time. If you've ever seen a sprinkler watering a lawn, it's either a Rainbird or an Orbit.

I have their smart irrigation controller, and it's the most reliable smart product I have in my home. Better connectivity and uptime than my Ring and TP-link smart devices.

Can't say anything about this specific product but I'm a fan of the brand.

Wirecutter reviewed these and didn't like them, fwiw. Very quiet alarms, no smart home integration, and can only be silenced by squeezing the actual device. Up to you to decide if those are deal breakers!

I almost purchased this, but it looks like an 8 pack of the Govee from Amazon would be ~$101. Much higher ratings, greater range, louder, waterproof, Amazon easy returns, etc...
I would rather spend the extra $25 for the peace of mind considering the risk of water damage that cost me a ton a year ago.
So... although I came here for this deal, I ended up ordering the Govee based on one of the other poster's comments and some quick research. Dam you, Slickdeals!
Goovee app doesn't report when the Hub is inaccessible and the Hub doesn't report when a sensor is off.
Icing on the cake - you can access sensors when the Hub is off and control them, see status etc. So, all that sensor stuff is actually in the app, sync happens in the background and if it cannot do it, it doesn't report.

That being said, the system is rock solid for a year now - app notifications always arrive, sometimes delayed but emails are prompt. Never got buggy etc. Don't like that I have to baby sit it (test each month that a sensor is not dead) but do like that it just works. Would definitively change it for something else that can report when something goes bad; just is impossible to baby sit all electronic devices nowadays. or at least the alarm devices - want those to work for me.

Show us a better product for 3-pack or 8-pack. This is better than not having any. Yes, spending more money will always get you better products. But I am not looking to spend more than $80 for this kind of function at this time. I have lived in many homes for decades and never experienced a damaging water leak. If you keep things maintained and early detection with periodic maintenance, due diligence, most will never experience large water damage in their life - things just don't burst and cause a massive flood. It usually starts with a small sign of drips and moisture buildup.

Bunch of crap theory and unrelated discussion. Toilets overflow due to the immediate malfunction, for example. The discussion is about the sensors not the need for them.

I don't have a better product. I very clearly said that it's up to the consumer to decide if those are deal breakers. I'm not arguing with anyone about the product.

Toilets just don't overflow on their own unless you clog it by not using it properly with your "crap". lol

I did a rough calculation of about more than 16 thousand (16,000) flushes in my lifetime and never experienced a damage more than about $50 in carpet damage. And that's just myself not including others' flushes.

Since I do not live in a cold region, I can't speak for everyone. But most water damage is caused by in-house water heaters and under the sink, and pipes. Also having a damage water pressure regulator puts a toll on pipes and appliance which can lead to water damage over time especially if you live in a very cold climate or extreme fluctuating climate changes.

Ok but if you want to present a unbiased representation, you would mention the pros and cons of a product and let the consumer decide, however, your representation was biased as it only pointed out one source with only negatives. How about the pricing, app design, phone support, etc.?

So, last year I had a scenario where I had a downstairs toilet cause some damage due to flooding. In my case, I just let everything dry out and did not call insurance, but it happens.

What happened?

I had a Toilet with a bad flapper that caused the float value to add water every once in awhile. It got worse and I did not replace it. One of the family members flushed a #2 and didn't notice that it was clogged. Left for the day and that slow-ish leak caused about an inch of water across the entire utility room and bathroom.

The door needed to be replaced, a tile cracked after someone stepped on it, and the grout/etc could still use repair. The subfloor is likely less than optimal, but it's surviving.

If not for that "slow" leak the clog would not have mattered.

They didn't say much good about them (they work quick and they're small). I pointed out the things that could be deal breakers for someone. Do with the info what you will. This is a ridiculous complaint...

I am not complaining. I am pointing out your one-sided post so others will consider the other points. Seems like you're being a little sensitive. If you are going to post in a forum, expect a little debate. That's what makes forum helpful and read-worthy. Now you're beginning to whine.

Their site says a WIFI plug is needed. Why? How exactly do these work? I do not have smart home stuff in my house.

Seems to be not water proof, just watched a YT video. Completely not worth it since the first water will make it wet which will cause a malfunction for the device to ever send a notification to the phone.

This talks to their app and sensors.
