I just returned an open box excellent the other day which should've been an OB fair at best (no box, no stands, no remote). Found out it was a display model with over 8000 hours of screen on time (never turned off in almost a year). TV is amazing and this is a good deal, but I couldn't justify an OLED with that much usage. So if you go the open box route, make sure to check the usage hours.
The only thing missing from this TV is HDMI 2.1, but if you want an OLED with excellent picture quality then you're in the right place.
Only wanting a 55" OLED for gaming right now.
No 2.1 is a dealbreaker

The open box Fair ones dropped more than before if you can find them.
They often don't have the stand though.

Any reason to pass on this deal? I want a 55 inch oled and don't need it for gaming, just movies and tv. I don't feel like trying my luck on a refurb or a CX clearance opportunity. Costco by me has only had a few CXs lately and now the C1 is front and center. I'm thinking it will be a while before I see a better deal than this, prob gonna ponder this and order later today.

You made the right choice. I was casually browsing Facebook Marketplace a few weeks ago, and I saw someone selling a 65" C9 OLED for $900. The owner had the TV for close to two years, and he put 5,000 hours on the panel. I thought about it, and decided it wasn't worth the risk. It had a year left with the CPS warranty, but I read a ton of horror stories with CPS so I avoid them. Hopefully the next open box OLED you buy is in much better shape.

Bought a 65" A90j which while very expensive at $3800 is the best tv I've ever had in terms of quality
So much so that this one for this price is a steal- not the same but bang for $$ on this TV is incredible- will be replacing Samsung qled 55" that was higher end a few years ago with this.
As noted no 2.1 but if that's ok with you then this is a steal!

I got the 65 version on prime day. Amazing tv. Zero reason to pass on it.
