I just returned an open box excellent the other day which should've been an OB fair at best (no box, no stands, no remote). Found out it was a display model with over 8000 hours of screen on time (never turned off in almost a year). TV is amazing and this is a good deal, but I couldn't justify an OLED with that much usage. So if you go the open box route, make sure to check the usage hours.
The only thing missing from this TV is HDMI 2.1, but if you want an OLED with excellent picture quality then you're in the right place.
Only wanting a 55" OLED for gaming right now.
No 2.1 is a dealbreaker

Had a blast buying this today, my local store had the open box satisfactory condition in stock, so after reading some of the comments here I went down there to check that it had all the items with it. got there the tv was in excellent condition had everything with it (tv stand, remote, cable, not a scratch on it, and even all papers) so I called the rep and told him I want to buy it, he told me great but I have to wait 20-30 min for the guys who need to pack it to get back from break. so after waiting for 1 hr 30 min and talking to several people about updates on what the hold up is, the manager comes out saying they just sold the tv online and can no longer sell it to me. obviously I was extremely pissed off and asked to talk to the store manager (who wasn't there). so I started to complain about how I have been there for so long and this being their fault for not allowing me to pay for the item when I got there and not having competent employees. so after compiling for a few minutes the guy tells me to wait, after another 20 min he returns saying they cancelled the online order and I can now buy it. obviously happy I got the tv, but the 2 hr wait and having to deal with all that, I rather buy stuff from Walmart even their customer service seems to be better. Felt like I went car shopping, what a wonderful experience.

Sony TV is absolutely stunning. I already have a smaller version purchased in 2019 which I refused to leave behind when I moved from Hawaii to Washington state. This new OLED TV is mind-blowing. I can't say enough as to the picture quality

You made the right choice. I was casually browsing Facebook Marketplace a few weeks ago, and I saw someone selling a 65" C9 OLED for $900. The owner had the TV for close to two years, and he put 5,000 hours on the panel. I thought about it, and decided it wasn't worth the risk. It had a year left with the CPS warranty, but I read a ton of horror stories with CPS so I avoid them. Hopefully the next open box OLED you buy is in much better shape.
how do u guys check how many hours are on the tv, is there i setting that tells u

For the Sony models, you have to go into the Service Menu to get that information. The information is posted in the LG menu - General - About This TV - Total Power On Time.

They got me with an "Open Box Excellent" one today, too. Bought it online, sight unseen...go to pick it up, and it didn't have the box or stand (couldn't tell if there was a remote packaged up with it or not...but it didn't have one).

Seeing that, I figured it was probably a display model, but thought I would still take a chance on it. I got home and saw the manufacture date of June 2020, which pretty much told me, but I wanted to confirm the panel usage to be sure. It took me forever to find my old Harmony remote, get it programmed, and figure out the equivalent of the "Display" button was on the Harmony, so that I could check the hours on it via the secret Service Menu.

It has 3,110 hours on it. Definitely a display. Anyone looking on how to check the number of hours can use this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byzhpE-1c0o

Ran through a color checker test on YouTube, and the colors all looked pretty good. Then, I noticed a small, dark inky-looking spot on the edge of the screen. Not sure what caused that. Maybe a pressure spot from mishandling?

I was considering possibly keeping it up until I noticed the inky-looking spot. Year old display model being sold as open box excellent. LOL. Thanks, BBY.

dealbreaker? what games will you be running 4k at 120hz?
MANY Games on ym Series X run 120hz at 4K already.

Preparing mainly now for Battlefield 2042 which will take full advantage of that and yes 2.1 for gaming is 1,000% a dealbreaker for anyone who enjoys playing next gen games on a next gen console.

My 2 cents... it really comes down to personal preference as to what's most important to you. The X90 offers: larger size, more brightness, very good PQ, HDMI 2.1 features (future proofing), Costco's lengthy warranty and 90 day return policy. The A8H has incredible PQ, much better viewing angles, and much better reflection handling.

I have the x900H in 85inch and a 55 inch OLED C8. The X900 has great picture quality, but the OLED is at a different level. However, if the room can accommodate, size is king (as long as image is not a bust). Despite this, the size difference between 55 and 65 is not that big, while the picture quality difference is. I would get this one.

Its rough to recommend this TV considering for a couple hundred more you could get one with HDMI 2.1. Like your already spending a lot of money might as well bend over and take it all.
