There's no way of adding these purchases to my lego account? I just started building so I'm wondering
That I know of, there's no mechanism to earn LEGO VIP points when you purchase thru a 3rd party retailer. I asked a LEGO rep maybe two years ago when I called them about another issue I had, and their answer was "no".
The VIP standard 6.5 points per dollar spent works out to a 5% discount. At the most basic level, taking only the standard points per dollar into account, if you find stuff discounted more than 5% from a 3rd party you're better off, monetarily, buying it.
Really love this piece. I had one unimportant piece missing from the box but luckily didn't have to wait to build it before a replacement part came directly from Lego.

I agree with that conclusion. A few times a year Lego has double points equating to 10% off and often times have get with purchase free gifts that can't be bought and only available through Lego. Those are the only times I buy from them and end of buying most from Amazon or Walmart with pretty common 10-20% off. Lego also only sells the new releases in the beginning for a bunch of sets so that too causes me to shop there. This Tree House should be bought if you are on the fence at 15% off. Fantastic build and looks really neat and you will be able to sell it for at least what you paid shortly after it retires if you get tired of it. Should be retiring very soon too.

I feel you, the aftermarket pricing for lego 21310 is very high
