I disagree. I find the dpad to be good enough. It isn't as nice as the 8bitdo's dpad but it is far from terrible. I have had one of these in the house since soon after the switch launched and not only does it still work like new it might be the most ergonomically comfortable controller I've ever owned. Highly recommended.

Don't know if this is still the case, but 3rd party controllers can't wake the console from sleep. That frustration alone would make this worth the higher price for me.

If you buy any gaming controller at bestbuy with the 2 year geek squad replacement plan, within 2 years you can use the warranty for lack of battery time, and they will give you a brand NEW controller (unlike gamestop warranties) or a giftcard for the value in store. Super easy and quick

For half the price, it was well worth it IMO. I'm sure there is crappy third party options but that doesn't mean they all suck.

Nothing is better. Nothing comes close as far as ergonomics and overall quality. If this is a 10, I would give the aftermarket a 6. Does it justify 2x the price of aftermarket? That depends on how you value the things I mentioned above.

I was on the fence about this controller for about a year and finally pulled the trigger last month. It's definitely worth it as its the reason I started playing my switch again (I've had multiple joycons have the drift issue) The build quality is better than any of the other controllers offered for the switch and the ability to wake up the console is great. Definitely worth it in my opinion. Btw im pretty sure this is walmarts normal in store price

I picked up a few PowerA Enhanced controllers at Christmas and all of them have usb C charging. I think the older gen used AA batteries. I have a pro controller as well and the only difference we have noticed is the lack of vibration support.

Yea, I bought the Nintendo Pro controller for myself awhile back, but I picked up 3 different PowerA Wireless controllers ($25 on sale) for my son and his friends and they work great. I can't recommend them enough on sale, but I'd never pay full price for them since the Nintendo Pro is always $59 at Walmart.

The PowerA wireless controllers can wake the console from sleep. I have 2 of them and they work fine, but of course the build quality is not on par with the official Pro controller.

Yeup, at $25 I don't think anything else compares. You can pick up two for the price of one pro controller. At MSRP, I'd probably just go with the pro controller for a bit more build quality and rumble support

Not too sure about how to compare it to third-party controllers, but if anyone here is a fan of rhythm games, get this. Docked, I had lag issues playing Old School Musical and Melody of Memories, but this controller gets rid of the lag. Wouldn't pay retail for it, but came with a bundle, so recommend it if you can get it for cheap

Mr d it's worth it one Of the best controllers ever.It's up there with the 360 controller,wave bird and Dreamcast.

Did this with my GameCube back in the day. Open button stuck some. Really wanted a bigger TV at the time. "Redeemed" the extension plan and got my $150 back (which was awesome because the console had a price cut while I owned it). One of my bigger video gaming regrets. Bigger TV was nice and all, but by the time I got a used GC over a decade later, I wasn't as interested in those games. I also didn't own a different console so it would have been for TV/movie watching in college. I had a pretty meh laptop for PC games - overheated frequently.

So yes - the plan is nice, but I don't know I would buy it with the plan on swapping for a new controller at the end. Personally, I have a PowerA that takes replaceable batteries. I think long term, that will still have a use 10-15 years from now longer after the Pro Controller isn't made to be able to replace. I have one Pro Controller I do love and plan on getting at least one more PowerA with AA battery support. I wish Nintendo releases one Pro Controller with AA support similar to Xbox. My original Xbox 360 gaming controller still works as well as when I bought 8-9 years ago and still use it for PC gaming.

You dont have to wait 2 years, you can do it whenever within 2 years after the 15 day return period and if you do it within a year, you get the warranty cost back lol
I never buy accessories at bestbuy without that warranty. Its a great way to get rid of old tech that isnt being used anymore
