There is a newer (?) version of this charger at https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Powe...B085CFD3Z9 with model #A1624. This deal is model #A1622. Their are some bad reviews on A1624 indicating there was a defect in the first batch and Anker replaced with a newer version.

This A1622 model was only recently listed on Amazon and has no reviews, so I wonder if they are liquidating the bad batch. The descriptions are all over the place regarding USB-C. It says 15W and specs say 15W but then the description says 30W Power Delivery and it talks about 18W High-Speed charging.

When you Google Anker A1622 it leads you to a 30W USB-C / 12W USB-A charged with 5000mAh battery. Pictures look the same. https://www.anker.com/powercore-f...r-delivery

I guess you can gamble and return it at Kohl's if it doesn't work for you.
You're thinking of Aukey.
That's more than sufficient to keep most ultrabooks topped up. The Macbook Air ships with a 30W charger. However, note that this is only in wall outlet mode. In battery mode, the max power output is 15W (5Vx3A).

It's a good deal if it fits your need.

I'm hoping to get back on the road a lot, and in for one. I can drop a my 18W charger and my power back in my go bag, and save some space... probably will take my other 18W charger with me as a spare though, but it gets my 10000 mAh pack out of my bag as overkill.

Can you charge via the built in USB ports while charging the battery bank? In the words, does this have passthrough charging or do you have to unplug it from the wall first in order to use the USB ports?

I noticed the exact same things. I'm mildly interested for a device I can just keep in my backpack but there's a lot of weirdness going on.
