FWIW, I went looking, and for everyone who is a stickler for removeable plates and doesn't mind paying more, one of the few rotating ones WITH removeable plates (most of them are fixed, even my Waring Pro is fixed plates) is on sale for twice this: https://slickdeals.net/f/15219250-removeable-plates-rotating-hamilton-beach-waffle-maker-30

Non-removeable plates means a big NO from me. Some of you may be ok with only brushing and rinsing, but you can't soak it in the sink or put it in the dishwasher. IME this means it will never truly be clean.

15 bucks is ok non removable,

If you use this stuff you can clean the unit many many times without the need to remove the plates

Got this the last time the price dropped. It gets the job done and is great at this price. I clean it with a baby bottle brush.

Dang, that's pretty harsh. Ask people how many times they've soaked their comal, or their cast iron, or something like a griddle. Maybe you have a thing, what's it called, germaphobia (?) and you can't see yourself having this and are venting here, so I'll say that I hear you and sympathize for you.

I've had this one before and loved it, until something broke on the spindle and then I couldn't use it anymore. Definitely worth it, and way better (better heat dispersion and dissipation) than the presto flipside. I'd buy another one, but I haven't made a waffle in months, and even then it wasn't for me. I'd have to get rid of the presto, and I don't feel like anyone would appreciate the better waffle but me.

Why is it ok? I prefer the option to remove it for cleaning too but I have not seen one that could be remove. Being $15 doesn't mean it have to be none removable.

Sound like you use it a lot. What over stuff can you make in this waffle maker?

I want to pull the trigger but such a specific product to make one single specific food. I try to look up what other people make in this waffle maker and it doesn't look great to me. It look like it'll make a big mess, which making it none removable for cleaning is a disadvantage.

FYI, I am not crazy about waffle. Why I make pancake for it's easiness.
In a good rotating waffle maker, waffles become basically the easiest things you can make. Heat until ready goes off, oil it (even the nonstick ones tend to need some canola/etc oil or butter), pour the batter in, flip it, do something else while you wait for it to indicate its done, open, it releases, repeat. Once you have a batter dialed in and the right brownness dialed in for a given maker, it's as close to automated as you get.

You can make some other things in them too (including things like grilled cheese and other pressed sandwiches, lol), just so long as you're aware of the limitations offered by the waffle plates.
